Installing tile packs doesn't seem to work for 40_24 r20. I applied a bunch of different ones one at a time but nothing actually updated and I'm stuck with ASCII.

Whilst we're talking about vampires is anyone else having trouble finding them in 2014? In the older versions you could just spam the quest option till they told you about a night creature but there's so much extra stuff in DF2014 that the quest log just gets full of stuff.

neck! Seriously I thought throwing was meant to be OP as shit but unfortunately my legendary thrower only managed to give his attacker slight bruises with the rocks I found. Is there something better to use as throwing weapons? I tried my copper spear but it was deflected.

Throwing just isn't as fun as it used to be :(

Hi all! This is one of those posts where I beg for your help due to being hopeless with modding. I've looked through the RAW files and read the wiki section on modding and have no real idea of what to do. I want to create a playable race in Adventure mode that go by the name of Proxies. Before I go any further I'd just like to say these creatures are from an anime called Ergo Proxy so if you plan on watching it you may want to skip this as it spoils some important plot points. Anyway, they're basically gods incarnate so what I want to do is create a humanoid race that has the following abilities:

The first of these is superhuman strength and speed, it frequently moves almost too quickly to see when moving or dodging. Another ability is that apart from some special things in the anime they are immortal. That means no bullets or injuries can kill them. They regenerate from any wounds almost instantly unless they were caused by another proxy.

The way I want to go about this is by going off the humanoid template except with the following changes.
Change the skin to be heavily armored to simulate the strength of the Proxy as well as giving it superhuman strength, speed, endurance, toughness and anything else that would make it closer to a god. I'd also like to give it regeneration to prevent it dying from some lucky bolt.

Before I get anyone telling me it'll take all the fun out of Adventure mode, I know. I'm not creating it to be a challenge I'm creating it for shits and giggles.

I've gained a bunch of quests whilst trying to find the location of a vampire (incidentley does anyone know how to find a vampire once every peasant tells you to seek out some random bugger for more quests?) I want to erase my quest log so that I can pick up quests one by one and not be bombarded by "TSK" in every direction.

Ok I don't see the greatness of throwing. I've been sitting 4 tiles away from a barn owl as a legendary thrower and I haven't hit it once.

whats the best thing to throw? i tried sharp rocks but they just chipped bone. I threw water by accident and i got "the water strikes the dingo in the eye and  the severed part flies off in an arc!"
so what's the best thing to use?

Is there a way to generate a world with a huge amount of wild animals? I tried high savagery but that led to more goblins and still no animals. Also is there a way to edit my characters skills? Just to eliminate the 20 minutes spent throwing rocks at the start of my adventures. EDIT: MORE QUESTIONS! How do I find wild animals that I've been told to kill. Also how does the compass in the top left work? I headed west for days but never found anything. ALSO! I killed a vampire but she had no blood on her and there was none on me. Can I still drink her blood somehow?
EDIT: GUESS WHO HAS ANOTHER QUESTION
I accepted another question to kill a vamp and I've travelled to the keep but it's just full of military men that aren't the vampire I'm searching for.

Nothing. My mining dwarf refuses to do shit and won't tell me why, and I can't feed him to Armok because I've only just started.
