Mafia / Re: Super-Lyncher Mafia Day 1
« on: August 11, 2009, 01:24:12 am »
Well, it seems the Jester has two ways to win. They can either win with their side (Mafia/Town) or they can get themselves lynched. A Mafia Jester will always win...but I highly doubt that Super-Lyncher-Mafia is that horribly imbalanced to allow for that.

Also, if the Saulus claim is true, a way to fix this for future Super-Lyncher-Mafia is to make the Saulus a "Mafia-Ally". That way, the Saulus can't sell out his mafia buddies.

I do not trust Frelock's claim. I think he may be Jester. However, there is no way to prove it unless we lynch him and he doesn't revive. So, Frelock for now.

Also, I urge everyone to lynch all claimed Jesters. A Mafia could be hiding under a Jester claim. The Mafiso could say, "LYNCH ME!", Town says, "Nah, we won't do your bidding!", and the Mafiso gets to run around and defeat the Town. We should not let the Mafia hide under a Jester claim, so lynch all Jesters.

Good idea, thank you. In fact, I think next round Judas will revive into mafia-ally as well.

Anyways, the Day will end late Wednesday, probably around 9pm central.

You should try and have one ally. Not the French, they aren't allies. The French are money-bags on legs. No, find somebody else to ally with. Then, infect them and the French with religion. Keep the French for cash and your ally for war.

I know of the Vote Stealer - They don't have a vote, but they can steal all of the votes of another player during the night. They get their vote(s) back at the end of the next day.

Interesting roles. Which would be worst in the hands of scum? The Fibinacci voter and Vote Stealer would both be pretty bad for the town in the hands of scum, I have to say.

MOD: If a third party wins, does the game end or is this like Paranormal where a 3rd party can win but the game goes on?

That's a tough call. On the one hand, if you allow them to win and keep the game going, more people get to have fun. On the other hand, if they're allowed to win and keep going, it can lead to some hard or impossible situations for the town. You have to figure out what to do with them after winning(making them leave the game is about all that makes sense, so it has to be that.) Also, in a small game, people don't mind losing fast as bad as they might in a big game.

In any case, I think I'll make it so that third-party roles win independently of everybody else. Does this sound fair to everyone? Remember, it could be a town role lying  ;)

Also, yes Alexhans, I realize that jesters suck, and I even know why. Trust me, I really do know how anti-town they are. Call this a test-run, if you will. Worst case scenario, I never run another mafia game ever again, and we all know jesters suck and nobody uses them. Not too bad, in the grand scheme of things.

We should start this off the same way we did the last one, stating the role you got that wasn't yours. Everybody in agreement?

Yeah, I had to generate several games just to get this balance. 5 jesters, anyone? In any case, I already know a few things I should of done differently, at least for role generation.

I'm sending out the role PM's now. Here's the flavor. I know, you guys don't care, but I do.

Location: Africa, exact location unknown

Journal Entry 1

Aaaah, Africa is a wonderous place, is it not? I am about to begin my expedition to a small African village with the strangest of rituals. Apparently, the believe that if the village does a ritual sacrifice, the person will be judged and brough to Paradise if they did well in life. Thus just seems like an excuse for a murderous lynch-mob to off the least liked members of the community, journal. Still, they have promised not to lynch me as long as I don't attack them and stay out of their affairs, which I will gladly do.

I have already learned the language of the villagers and they have agree'd to let me watch them, in exhange for some trinkets and supplies. Specifically, some of them wanted guns, to hunt with. This all seemed reasonable, so I agreed. When I arrive at the village, I shall write again.

Journal Entry 2

We have arrived at the village. There seems to be a dispute among the villagers. Apparently, there is a group of them called the "All-Seeing Truth" that thinks the lynching system is false and that true justice should be brought by humans, not the gods. It seems the group has used one of the guns I brought the village to shoot other members of the village. Oh dear, journal! Although they seem to dislike that I had a hand in all this, they have allowed me to stay, which I shall do. This all sounds fascinating!

The villagers have agree'd that something must be done about this group of hulligans. Much of the village has agreed to go along with the All-Seeing Truth, but because of the actions of other now-dead villagers, only 8 potential All-Seeing Truth members remain. The town has agree'd to lynch off one of these people a day, to be decided by the group, so as to either stop the All-Seeing Truth or elminate the All-Seeing Truth's last enemies. These 8 villagers have the following names, roughly translated into English:

1. Org
2. ToonyMan
3. Mephansteras
4. Pandarsenic
5. Frelock
6. JanusTwoface
7. Servant Corps
8. Leafsnail

(OOC: If anybody wants to replace Leafsnail on Friday, that's still an option. I think I accidentally didn't send one person a role PM. If you haven't gotten yours, please PM and I'll correct this error. On the other hand, I think I might of sent one person two role PM's. If so, sorry about that!
Also, yes, the game has started.)

I estimate that there are only 2 members in the All-Seeing Truth. I also guess that they have a private place to post messages and reminders to each other. I will now attempt to transcribe what the villagers said to each other.

om nom nom nom delicious plants. Yes, eat the random plants growing in this hell hole. I'll probably get poisoned, but that's one way to get PR in Nethack, so here we go! Besiders, being poisoned is better than starving.

For reference, the glowing plants are the tower-caps, right? If not, I just found a torch, but no way I can fell a tower-cap with my bare hands.

Then check the doors, starting with whichever appears larger, (since I don't know direction). If it's openable, go through it, otherwise go to the other one. If that one is openable, go though it, otherwise try and clear a path to one of the doors.

Just wanting to clear that up, I'm going after the beginners because they're making mistakes. Even if they aren't scum, it should teach them not to make mistakes. And of course by them, I mean overlordFT, but that's not the point.

Since Pandar could now go back and save Zai, I think this may be the only mafia game ever where more scum died than townies.
I saw an IRC mafia where, one time, a vig shot one of the mafias and a redirector moved the mafiakill to the other one. Both scum dead n0, game over.

My favourite is one where an elite guard (Doctor that kills the would-be-killer, powerful role) guarded the same guy 2 nights in a row... and the scum attacked that guy 2 nights in a row.

What can I say? I honestly wasn't expecting you guys to lynch Little and then shit hit the fan. Hell, I would of done the same thing in a town position as well.

To everybody using the Unnoficial Morrowind Patch: It's out of date now. The newest version has been renamed and is located at http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7347

Just quickly check. If you use a mod called "Unofficial Morrowind Patch", you need to upgrade. It's called "Morrowind Patch Project" now. I can't make this shit up, sadly. Anyways, the Text Patch is still necessary since the idiots who make the MPP refuse to integrate it for some unknown reason. On top of the Text Patch and Morrowind Code Patch, you'll be sailing bug-free (Until your mods start conflicting, but can't help that, now can you?)
