DF Adventure Mode Discussion / infection
« on: June 08, 2013, 01:34:03 am »
i did some training on a horseshoe crab, and my ears, fingers and toes got a little smashed, ive heard that finger wounds are often fatal due to infection. is there any way to heal my fingers? if not, can someone give me some code to add to the raws to heal fingers, ears and toes?

i think if the vampire lives in a city, the quest just directs you to the centrepoint of the city, talk to some citizens about it and they should tell you to: 'search first in a cottage to the southwest!' the person youre looking for (probable cos i use phoebus) will flash blue like your companions

i like to play as dwarf adventurers (martial trance ftw) but its really annoying because the only dwarf friendly piece of armour i found in a lair was a STEEL breastplate, but i found that as a human, so i couldnt use it. this game trolls so hard, i once generated a large world and not 1 SQUARE of it had any flux stone

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: So... Yeah I Have to Kill it

when dealing with vampires, kill count doesnt matter at all, usually any vampires in villages will have a knife on them, quick fix is to talk to them from the other side of the room they're in and let the filthy peasants maul them a bit before you go in.

how do you 'unretire' an adventurer? i got stuck in the sewers once, and i heard that retiring and then unretiring put you on the surface, i was in a place which was like a tunnel straight down, with the entrance on the surface, i had to go in there to kill a vampire, but my only option in the esc menu was to give in to starvation.

posting to watch, been reading like a demon.
i dont know if you can remember, but did deebus start out as a 'peasant'? if so, this is miraculous. i nearly always start out as 'hero' and spend the first day or two training on the beach.

there are multiple sewer entrances, i would look on the walls because that will show you any paths branching off the one you are in. does your quest require you to look in a dungeon? if thats the case, then you musn't look in the sewers, instead find a temple in fast travel and find a way down into the dungeon from there. always sneak in dungeons, enemies will take you by surprise if you dont

i have a throw training macro which i use, i pick up something (anything), find somewhere with an object: water, berry seeds, sandy clay loam; at the top of the [g]et screen, then the macro does [g] [a] [t] [g] [enter]. i press ctrl+u, 99, ctrl-p and that works. for training on horseshoe crabs, just doing ................................................................................... as a macro works great. its kinda counter-intuitive how ctrl+u and enter doesnt make the macro repeat

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Starting Demigod attributes
« on: May 30, 2013, 03:17:40 pm »
i usually start as 'hero' and get rid of musicality, linguistic ability and the other useless ones in favour of good stats in strength, agility and kinaesthetic sense, for skills, i go with novice swimmer & reader (you cant train those) and then pump the rest of the points into a weapon skill; the rest is up to you, my current adventurer i trained for a day or 2 in throwing until i got bored (macros ftw) and fought some horseshoe and de-clawed crabs until i got legendary in shield user and dodger (had no armour, so im still dabbling at that) this means some things:
1. i dodge ALL the hits, and if i dont, i block them, and if i dont, well, i havent been hit yet.
2. i have superdwarven strength and agility before ive done my first quest, and i can outrun most bandits while lying on the ground

all this seems a bit OP, but i guess its whatever you find fun. i might make horseshoe crabs playable as adventurers... GOOD IDEA! im off!

I havent tried it myself, but how hard is it to neak past all the zombs?

one thing i've learned is to go as late as possible, because becoming a necro freezes your attributes
