Dargran tries to get the manta ray to follow them to the next room. He goes there regardless of whether he is successful or not.

I'm planning an RTD but want grisha's permission to use him as a deity first.
Make sure to tell us when it starts!

Wait, you do FILD after you wake up from your alarm, like WILD, yes?
Yessir.

Shadowhammer's log, day 9
I did the same thing as yesterday, and spent about an hour and fifteen minutes finger tapping before going to sleep.

I had a very inception-y dream.
I also had a dream in which I was actually lucid.
Spoiler: Lucid dream (click to show/hide)

Assimilate the big rock structures, ignoring any possible screams of pain you might hear.
Refine one of the structures, the one to the left of the farseer. See what happens.

It's okay. :)

Sneak around and under the invincitite to investigate the ominous hummmmm. Possibly involving farseer.

On the topic of immortality, I would like to never age past my prime, as well as being immune to all diseases. I wouldn't, however, want to be completely incapable of dying, but I also wouldn't want to have to make the decision "I die now" in order for my existence to end. I would simply want to be a normal guy who simply never grows older than ~25 and never gets sick. If that wasn't an option, I would be willing to forego all of the above conditions except never dying; I wouldn't accept immortality if I could never die.

* Descan giggles at people saying, basically, "I'll be immortal but no one else will be!"

* Descan also giggles at people saying "Living forever is boring!"

1) Kind of a dick move to create a method of immortality without giving the option to use it to other people.(regardless of what it is, you guys saying "I'll just upload my neurons" like that won't kill your consciousness and like it won't be a form of immortality [i.e. someone thinkin' they're you living forever] are silly)

2A) Like you've done it.

2B) If you're bored in the universe we have, and the technologies we have and will have, and with the myriad people we have, will have, and will create, and possibly find, then you're doing it wrong. I'm not bored with life now. I don't see why I'll be bored with life tomorrow. And I don't see that stopping any time soon, especially since all evidence points to the alternative being the ultimate in boredom, i.e. *literally* being nothing and doing nothing.
These are all valid points, but...
1) I assume any immortality would be granted through magical means that you yourself have no control over, because I don't see any way in which anything bound by physical law can last forever, much less sustain a human being's life along with it through any event that may occur. Of course, it's not like I can think of a magical way either, but you know what I'm saying, right?
2A) I'm not certain I understand this point, but if you're saying "You have not lived forever, therefore you don't know whether you would be bored living forever", then the obvious response is that you also don't know whether you wouldn't be bored living forever, and some people don't want to chance it.
2B) After a long enough time, you would end up being put in a situation in which there is simply nothing to do for a very, very long time, if not forever. This would most likely happen in the form of being flung into deep space. You could, of course, occupy yourself by just thinking, but that would, after a few centuries of simply drifting through starlit emptiness, probably drive you insane. Not to mention the possibility of being sucked into a black hole: if the mystical force preserving your mind and body did manage to keep you from being destroyed, I don't imagine that there would be much sensory perception going on.

There was some crazy chinese emperor dude who thought eating these poisonous beans would let him live forever.

Guess how well it worked out?
I'll have you know it worked very well actually! I'm, still as fit as a fiddle.
:P Well played. Of course, you did have a few thousand years to think that one up, but still, well played.

Well, from my limited understanding of things, we can generate electricity from two sources. Either chemical energy as certain atoms/molecules react and electrons are shuffled around, or kinetic energy by spinning things through a magnetic field. I'm probably missing out on a couple alternative sources, but those are the two major ones. So converting thermal energy directly to electricity is (most likely) impossible. After all, thermal energy is just atoms/molecules being highly energetic but without any unified direction or force. So we can't convert it to electricity without going through another step using the two methods we have. To convert thermal energy directly, we'd need some kind of substance that shuffles around electrons when it heats up. Which I'm pretty sure is impossible, or we don't have a substance like that. Or it converts the thermal energy into chemical energy before turning it into electricity.

Am I kinda making sense here?
I may be understanding incorrectly, but don't thermocouples make electricity directly from heat?

Got a few seconds of spontaneous lucid dream last night before my brain shunted me back to normal dreaming. After going lucid, the first thing I tried was a reality check different from those posted here (at least, I don't think it was from here); essentially using just your tongue to attempt to block your breathing, similar to the 'pinch test' described here. A hands-free test, using your tongue as if you were swallowing, since that normally blocks the airway. Turns out that is not a good reality check, as, oddly enough, it acts exactly the same as in reality (and thus is useless as a test case). Which I suppose isn't that surprising, given that's fairly hardwired behavior, and so if anything could be done correctly, things like that would be it.

Might be because it, in fact, made you swallow IRL. A common thread in some of my (non-lucid so far) dreams is things like feeling my arms being extraordinarily weak or choking, then waking up, which are likely caused by RL-feedback on the dream (I have a massive horizontal scar slightly below my ribs which makes it uncomfortable to sleep on my back).
Arms being weak is a common occurrence in my dreams, too: just last night, I had a dream where I was in a Super Smash Bros Brawl game, and I tried to throw a Smart Bomb at another player, but I couldn't throw hard enough to make it explode, and he just kept coming at me, laughing at my weak and pitiful attempts to save myself, and I knew that I had no chance of beating him and that Smart Bomb had been my last hope but but it just bounced off of him...

Yeah, my dreams where I have weak arms are usually scary.

I didn't post a log yesterday, because I didn't do anything, but for continuity's sake I decided to have a log for every day.

Shadowhammer's log, day 7
I did not attempt to lucid dream. I did not lucid dream.

Shadowhammer's log, day 8
I intentionally made myself cold in order to keep myself from dozing off. This strategy, henceforth known as 'The Chill Gambit', was successful, and I was able to do FILD without falling asleep until I decided I wanted to.

I stayed awake using FILD for approximately an hour. At this time, I decided to simply fall asleep, hoping to replicate the success I experienced the first night that I did that.

However, immediately after I had made up my mind to do so, I felt as though a large electric shock went through me*: I felt a jolt of energy course from my toes to my head, and every muscle in my body clenched for a fraction of a second. I also heard the 'bzrap' noise that is comically associated with electric things, except instead of sounding silly, it sounded SO COOL. It did not hurt. I thought, "Awesome! Hallucinations!", and then realized, "Wow, I sound like such a druggy."
*I haven't ever experienced a severe electric shock (worst one I've had was the static-electricity-Van-De-Graph-machine-holding-hands-in-a-circle experiment in grade nine science class) so I am not sure whether this is actually what it feels like.

After this, I waited another while, and then decided to go to sleep. While I was waiting, I heard rodents in the attic and my parents walking around.
Spoiler: Lucid Dream (click to show/hide)
Tonight I will attempt to do almost the exact same thing. However, I notcied that my estimation of the time that had passed while doing FILD was significantly off: it had been only an hour when I guessed it to be an hour and a half. To prevent a gradual slide in the length that I spend FILDing, I will make sure to continue doing it until well past the time that I think is sufficient.

Go find someone to challenge. It will probably be best if we get some practice before entering a tournament, and we need some sort of reputation before anyone will challenge us.

Have Richard go into the ship first, and then have Kirek follow close behind, while the others investigate the crate.

Assimilated medium matter produces more energy than crystals, let them as is and convert them into refined crystal when it's the most profitable (probably the turn before they degenerate).

Anchor self into rock down in the cavern, and thicken the pillar for safety. Send feelers left and right of it, both at the top and the bottom.
