.=wall
<=bridge that raises to the right
>=bridge that raises to the left
link both bridges to the same level, all mechanisms of the same quality for it to work properly
when the bridges raise, there will just be 2 walls, and a crushed dwarv inbetween them
I call it the crusher
new ones will also spwan shortly after you killed some of them
just wait, eventually something cool will come and kill you
but I#d say that 4 would be more than enough
would be aweomse if it was in 3 different colors
if yes, do you need a dungeon master to do it ?
if no chasm is avaiable, simply dig down to the lowest z-level, and built a tunnel to the other side of the map, so it can drain of the edge
answer on your question:
you don#t need a single screwpump
can they spawn everywhere, or just in areas that has access to the depot (ie, no cliffs or rivers in their way)
if there are boulders or trees, get rid of them, all the way straight to your depot
to avoid clutter, simply remove the workshop and build a new one once it is too full
from what i have experienced, only food really needs to be stored, everything else will be just fine when it lays around randomly
it only hurts the optic
but they can trade logs as well, right ?

the place you are searching for is on the far west of the map
a sinister lake (brown red tiles), surrounded by mountains
in the north of the lake are a few brooks, a forest and the mountain top
edit: i visited the site as adventurer
it has skeletal carp
and zombie hippoes
... I suddenly feel discouraged
this is gonna be hard work

I tried to send an adventurer to scout, but he was killed by a giant desert scorpion befiore even reaching the lake[which i am not sure i can cross)
this particular mountain is located right next to a huge lake, and has a small strip of heavily forested biome in front of it
I am sure that such a mountain would be an awesome place to build on, however I have heared that biomes that are marked as ungodly high (the masterpiece quality symbol) have no trees, even when marked as heavily forested, and have no soil, eventho a layer of sand is shown
is that true ?
and even if it is, should I take the risk of not having enough beds )and possibly food) for an awesome location ?
