finished the angler's hut at last. it was a pita to build mostly due to the short number of trees i can plant right there. but i finally made it. it also received some theme related stuff like chandelier, lamps and that stuff. all the NPC houses will receive the same treatment once i have the resources. the dryad's house also received the same treatment and i expanded it over the hellevator.

furniture will be added in another iteration. for now this is job done. the house of the dye trader was also updated. now i need to find the stylist. but the jungle calls on me first.

EDIT:

also reforged the light's bane and the demon bow for maximum modifiers. it was quite cheap.

found the goblin tinkerer, now i need a house for the stylist (if i get to found her), bought the tinkering workshop and the rocket boots, crafted the spectre boots. need to find the anklet and the aglet along with the ice skates. exploring the subterranean jungle to see if i can find them. im also looking for crystal hearts.

EDIT:

almost get the final crystal. got a bunch of mobs in the way, too much wasps. so had to retreat. cut and replanted trees and crafted the GPS it came with the warding prefix, good. added the band of regen and a menacing shackle to my equipment, i dont have many accesories right now. missed the oportunity to see what did the travelling merchant have to sell.

will resume jungle exploration later, i have enough wood for continuing the house expansions.

leveled more terrain and cut more trees, used the newly leveled plain to plant more of them, got enough wood for expanding the houses of the guide, demolitionist and merchant. there's a room avaliable for the goblin tinkerer. but i have to find him first. or go for the stylist and expand the house of the dye trader.

either case, the town is expanding a little bit more.

as for equipment, the EoC gave me enough demonite for the demon bow and the light's bane. not ready for taking onto the EoW yet. first need to craft some accesories and reforge the whole equipment.

bought a stack of pumpkin seeds from the dryad, im using the spare grass plots for them, and have some pumpkin pie ready for use in the good storage.

made a small cactus house for the dryad, this world only has one giant tree and is the type without secret room so had to think of another construction for her.

also, got two blood moons in a row and then a goblin invasion. died a lot and the NPCs too.

right now have a new nurse, new merchant and the dye trader... and i have got short in space already, got to cleanse the borders with the corruption so i could expand a bit my plots but the only way now is make the houses taller. which means cutting down more trees and preparing more rooms.

as for bosses. already broke a shadow orb. havent got a meteor but the goblin invasion came, the arms dealer only lasted one day and died during the siege.

killing the EoW will be complicated without proper equipment so i'll see what can i craft with the demonite ore i got from the EoC

bought a piggybank, im surprised that its the only container (i guess the safe works the same way) in which i can say the order of quickstack and it actually takes the money from the slots instead of making me do the micromanagement (as the rest of the containers do). well that should be very obvious taking in account what it is.

but anyways.

havent found more crystals. but i've discovered at least 3 spider nests nearby, one of them was on the way of an abandoned track. there are several along the magma layer. havent had enough rope and torches for exploring it all of them.

i had also encountered another granite biome. nothing regarding marble yet. and got practicall a full stack of silt for processing. had to reacomodate the contents of my chests.

the small house i had is getting short in space for furniture, and i dont have more chests (may need to fabricate more or expand the house a bit). have an extractinator and moved the nurse to the same house.

finished the first layer of the angler's hut. he is joyfully staying there until i get more palm wood for finishing the second floor and get the materials for the roof.

the EoC has been announced at least 2 times since the fight. but i have been trying to avoid it while i find heart crystals.

EDIT:

the fucker got me by surprise while i was building the frame for the second floor of the angler's hut. attacked him with arrows then changed to the yoyo during the fight, had few space for maneuvering but having the nurse so near allowed me to heal most of the fight.

so yeah, one boss down. now i have to make a home for the Dryad.

If you are fighting the EoC in expert mode is is god damned hard when he beserks... I actually had full hell weapons/armor before I beat him hah

the first time i tried expert mode i killed him with full 400 HP and a yoyo and i dont remember which other weapons, ahh, a slime staff and full gold armor, along with the few defensive accesories i got.

it was mostly a work of kiting and hope to hit it with the yoyo when it was going berserk. took several tries to kill

this time i had no buffer and enough defenses to tank it, i need to complete the 400 HP mark and then make better equipment (my only ways of damage are a tin bow, some shurikens and throwing knives, a zombie arm, a rally yoyo and a enchanted boomerang)

i had some potions for the fight but ran out of some of them (not many ironskin potions).

found another mushroom biome while spelunking in search of silver and gold ores. found several cabins with different repeated elements (two clouds in a jar, two flare guns with ammo)

found more heart crystals and skipped one EoC attack while doing it. sitting at 260 HP right now.

got enough silver for the full set but not enough for the golden one, will have to keep looking for ore.

the angler's house frame is ready, but making the doors depleted the stock of palm wood so will have to way for the next harvest in order to make walls. it is missing also the materials for the second floor (where the main NPC's room goes) and the roof.

EDIT:

died to a boulder trap and lost some money but got enough gold ore for completing what i needed for the armor set. bought some items from the travelling merchant (brick layer and stopwatch).

now i have to find more heart crystals.

EDIT 2:

have found 2 granite biomes, and got 2 more crystals, 300 HP right now, ran out of torches for exploration, and was getting full inventory, also found a band of regeneration.


EDIT 3:

almost killed the EoC, the last dashing attacks got quickly in critical state and i didnt have money for paying the nurse. lost the battle when he was practically dead. there was also a demon eye messing around during the battle.

palm trees take quite the time to grow, and discovered i cant put doors without a solid floor so i cant use the platforms as it. this means more palm wood to harvest.

crafted a sawmill, then a loom, then made a bed and the white string. once i finish the angler's house i will use it to move the nurse onto the main house and the guide to the home used for the nurse right now.

no sights of the EoC yet. tried to explore the other side of the map, there's at least 3 separate nodes of corruption at the east. one of them seems to be dangerously close to the ocean, couldnt make it, too much EoS molesting in the way. fighting skeletron will be a challenge since the Dungeon is located between two of those nodes. i may need to make an arena for fighting him.

found some silver ore in the caverns, but its not enough for a full set, let alone the current gold i have. need to find more.

EDIT: i was an idiot, i had the materials for the grappling hook right there and had mistaken the amount needed to craft it. got one ASAP.

the equipment served me enough for traversing the jungle, the left side of the map is completelly devoid of any corruption and spans two deserts, the jungle, normal surface and the ocean. found the angler and im currently farming palm trees on the town for making his house (over the pond).

will take a photo when its finished. no spelunking for now. also increased max life to 200. so attacks from the EoC are expected.

the hellevator has proven to be a success, by the time since the last update i've found at least 3 cabins in the way. got hermes boots, magic mirror and the enchanted boomerang.

got enough gold for the high tier watch and a compass from a piranha, havent dropped the depth meter, but a bat gave me the chain knife.

as for hooks, only have one unit, need more for making the grappling hook.

lead harmor gives enough resistance against the current mobs although they rarely hit me since i kill them with the yoyo.

the hellevator as it stands right now goes down up to the lava layer, further progress requires me to get rid of a flooded lava pool, as the copper pickaxe cannot mine throught obsidian.

it is also practically next to an spider nest. havent opened it yet because i need to make space for the stylist house and i have already got short of building space (unless i add more stories to the current houses).

one option is to spend the two crystal hearts i found  recently and try to fight the EoC with the current equipment, which should prove to be a bad idea right now) this way i could get the dryad and cleanse the corruption at the east.

the other would be to try my luck and explore the rest of the map to the west so i reach the ocean and get the angler. build his house and slowly get the fishing gear for fishing a reaver shark, so i can finish the hellevator.

both alternatives may require me to get high tier ore armor. so the real stuff will be to get more silver/gold from the caverns.

Some of your houses are really quite lovely.  My 1.3 house in my fresh Expert game thus far is basically a glorified flak tower built out of wood.  Even the last major project back before 1.2 was basically just a bunch of boxes stacked up, and even that's unfinished; you can see the bottom of the island is still far from complete, and there's no grass.  Also tended to get harpies if you jumped up from the top of the dome, so you had to watch out for that.  At any rate, my 1.3 house:

Actually, those two rooms that serve as entrances and exits were initially intended to be decorative, but turned out to be useful.  One of the new 1.3 enemies, the Dripplers, tends to float up and get caught inside, which lets me open the door and bounce them against the walls by using anything with knockback.  A few Demon's Eyes, too, but not nearly so many; they tend to bounce past the gaps.

making a house can be pretty challenging if you dont know how do you want to make it, i was used to just make a wooden box shapped building which would catter to fulfill the needs of the NPCs and served as a base without too much effort to make.

these houses have proven to be fun to make and made me actually spend the materials i get, its not so hard to make, just make sure to get enough iron/lead for a heavy workbench (doing stone slabs is easy since its a 1-1 material/output relation so no stone is lost in the conversion, it also looks cooler than the grey bricks).

you can use the wooden structure as a bunker for your stuff while you build the houses. however, you can just secure the main part of the house and build from the inside before the night comes. unless its a blood moon, then it would be better to stay in the bunker...

after a long way down making the hellevator i hit a mushroom biome, in the surrounding space i found 2 heart crystals. i have so far found 3 cabins, one in the underground, one in the cavern and one in the mushrooms. got enough tin for a full armor set, not enough lead for the next but this should suffice for now.

in terms of accesories, got the spiked shoes, cloud in a jar and the lava charm. got two zombie arms in a row. so now i have a better melee damage. completed my mana pool too so now i can gather the stars for future potions or jester arrows.

the house for the nurse is ready. but i dont really have enough life for anything. maybe i could explore what lies beyond the desert now. i hope so.

EDIT:

after dying 2-3 times, finally mapped the desert, it has the underground entrance and all. bridged it with platforms, now results that i have the jungle right next to the desert. didnt survive to the large amount of mobs. will have to find more lead ore or something.

EDIT 2:

found enough lead for completing the armor, but died to a salamander and an throwing skeleton. this is annoying

EDIT 3:

things got a little bit more interesting, made a tin bow as replacement for the wooden one and crafte a large influx of wooden arrows. decided to go down to the caverns to find more ore and accidentaly got in encounter against a salamander. killed it by kiting it and knocking it with the arrows.

the fucker dropped a ruthless rally :D

the skeletons cant really throw you stuff if you hit them. (skeleton mages however, havent reached that far on expert).

outside of medusa or the hoplites the most annoying mobs in expert are those godamned spiked slimes. they can shoot you from afar, and if you get on range they shower you with spikes. you have to have a really long range weapon or take advantage of the terrain because otherwise you're dead.

spiked ice slimes specially, as if they werent annoying before they give them the hability to freeze you.

okay so i cannot do the same with cactus here, went to the desert and fell some large ones so im full cactus armor now. also built the demolitioner's house (nothing new compared to the other two houses). melted some metal bars and made a cooking pot for future well fed buffs.

was thinking on reaching the ocean and build a house for the angler, but with the current equipment it could prove problematic so the only thing right now is to go for more metals in the underground.
