siege repelled, casualties number more than 10, next time i will be prepared with alerts, remaining spaces for marksdwarves filled again, fortress recovering, one of the carpenters was on a mood and entered a martial trance, had to dispose of him. producing coffins for the deceased and moving on with the prospection. the deeper parts of the fortress seem to have been covered completelly with cavern plants. hope to see some underground trees soon, need to move all the agriculture to the underground in order to secure it. and have to find a way to construct a watersource for the underground parts.

consecuently with the building of the walls and bridges a goblin invasion event came, fighting the last ones right now, have lost at least 3 of my militants and several civilians but the fortress will effectively keep going. killing these madafakas is taking a long time, but at least im getting close to securing the defenses for the next invasion (i hope)

the entrance of the fortress is being walled and 4 drawbdriges are planned, only for defense measures as pits cannot be built, but it should be able to repel terrestrial invaders, will have to think in putting a roof above as aditional measure in case of aerial invasion or build hatches on the main stairs.

relative peace for now, with the usual snatcher or verming annoying the countryside, but no large scale invasions are present for now.

goblin ambush, two dorfs lost in the action, one of them a marksdwarf, its only time before a fylly fledged siege comes, the fortress is starting to fill with cavern moss and fungi but will take a time before being able to move the grazing animals to the underground.

hospital built but is lacking several stuff, mining tetrahedrite around the caverns, but need more wood in order to produce the fuel for melting it. new rooms have been dug for the population and more are planned. winter has come and soon the fort will be 3 years old.

struck a vein of microcline at the 14th layer, marksdwarves still in training, population stable

EDIT: found a cavern, but got to cancel the breaching of the wall, so for now the fortress is still isolated from it

a contingent of 10 marksdwarves is training at the fort, havent found metals yet, im worried i will have to dig deeper in order to get them, or rely in commerce in order to obtain more weapons and armor. population increased again to 80+

the fortress is now 2 years old, and have jumped to 60+ dorfs, building more rooms and putting the factories for beds and doors, the dinning hall is almost furnished. the flooding is coming to end as it gets to 7/7 depth. no metals have been found, only flux stone have digged as deep as the 8th layer dont want to go deeper cause i dont have a militia yet. not enough dorfs to do it, goblin snatchers and kobold thiefs have started to appear, im worried of a potential invasion.

FPS still an issue but tolerable, the flooded galeries are reaching 7/7 depth, y hope this ends with the cut in frames soon. the fort is still thriving, manufacturing bone armor and crossbows for the next step, no metals found yet. so will have to rely in good archers.

fort population increased to 50, no problems with food for now, accidentally caused a flooding due to channeling above one of the walls of the tunnels, had enough time to secured the fortress with a wall but the room assigned for the cementery was disconnected by the water, building a new tunnel leading from the other side, and the door was set to forbidden entrance.

FPS dropped with the increase in population and the flood, but the fortress stands

the metalsmith of my 40.03 fort became mad after not being able a long time with a mood, i couldnt stop the slaughter and just downgraded to 34.11 instead. will have to wait until the new version is playable (FPS wise)

as for now my new fort has just started in a suitable location and have already digged until reaching a bauxite layer (oh yeah)

so after a complete morning of fortress management i have made the first batch of bedrooms, a dinner hall and have 4 9x9 farmplots working, no problem with food except for the still bug(i have several barrels avaliable but nothing happens).

i've started to dig the first underground level in order to make stockpile rooms. and well, playing at 15-20 FPS is a bitch.....

updated to 40.03, no problem for now, except that the framerate fluctuates for some unknown reason (no reports of any cave ins, only weather effects and the usual tree collapse due to mining).

the game doesnt seem to generate minerals even when i set it to everywhere, guess its something of the new version (that or its because i like to build forts in embarks with elevation of 1 or 0)

first 40. fort, no problems for now, but the cut in FPS are an annoyance.

EDIT: oh well nevermind it seems the framerate issues are caused by cave ins in the cavern layer (40.02 for that matter)

is the colapse of trees a feature or that's gonna be fixed too?, i had to cut several roots from the ground in order to carve my current fortress and this has caused several trees to colapse. if this is a feature maybe it could count as choping trees, so wood is generated from the colapsed ones. i dont have all the details. but should be logical.
