Curses / A simple cheat
« on: December 17, 2014, 08:38:51 pm »
By the way, I did this in like 5 minutes and know nothing about making tables.  Luckily this was easy enough that even I could do it.

Assuming that you already have Cheat Engine, it is very simple to put yourself into easy mode.  First grab the appropriate plug-in and lock onto the game (crimesquad.exe, naturally).

Now the values listed are not going to be the right, because the game's address changes every time it boots and frankly I don't know how to make CE autosearch for things.  Luckily manual search works just fine so here is what you do, all based off info from the wiki (this is much easier than it sounds, trust me!):

1) Begin a new game, make sure to leave selecting your own past is left on (default is on unless you change it)
2) At the first question flip over to CE and do a new search for the number 3.  That's your base intelligence before answering any questions.
3) Hop back to LCS and answer "C" to first question, which gives +2 to your intelligence, bringing it up to 5 (even though you can't see it... yet).  Flip back to CE and search for the number 5.  That's the current address for your intelligence.
4) Now go look at the bottom half of CE and you'll see your stats, which currently all read 0 (or something else equally wrong).  Now you're going to fix that.
5) Right-click on the ADDRESS of your INTELLIGENCE stat to pull up the special actions menu, then from that select "Recalculate new address" from there.
6) The second tab will read "Change to address" and - the cool part - CE will have automatically copy & pasted the address from your above search into the field.  So now all you have to do is select "Change" and ta-da!  All the stats are now the correct numbers.  You may now finish answering the rest of the questions however you like.
7) Once you're done with the questions and the game begins you can go to the VALUES tab on any of those stats in CE and make them whatever you want, up to and including values of 500+.  Obviously this raises your skill limits considerably, as well as your combat ability and (most importantly) the speed in which you learn skills.  Though skills do have a separate cap built into the game (something over 200+ or so IIRC), it's pretty obnoxious and won't cramp your newfound godlike powers in any way.

Also: The "juice" value in that CE table is broken & will remain so, so don't mess with it.  I never bothered to fix or delete it.  I'm just lazy that way.

With uber stats you can do things like stab tanks, sneak past TooMuchCoffeeMan, pick locks at Fort Knox, charm & seduce eunichs, out-drive helicopters, and maybe even convince the President that the world isn't flat, who knows?

Note: This doesn't make you bulletproof!  You can still get killed in combat if you try to solo six Firemen butt-nekkid with a plastic spork.  However, with uber stats you should never need to personally get in combat at all if you don't want to.  Ideally you'll quickly make your leader into the new Lord Vivec and retire him/her to some secluded heat-free hideaway doing nothing but speed-training new recruits for eternity.

Very simple.  On average, 90% of the human population is straight and 10% is gay.  So for every character introduced, roll some dice and get their orientation.

A slightly more complicated, but more realistic, system would be to use the sliding scale system (look it up) and add/subtract modifiers based on that.  For example, someone who scores a perfect 5 on the "straight/gay" scale would be pure bisexual and get no modifiers either way.  Someone who scored a 2 would be almost completely straight, so attempts at homosexual seduction would receive a massive penalty.  Only a perfect 1 or 10 would absolutely lock out seduction attempts from the wrong gender.

Curses / Re: Running President
« on: September 21, 2014, 09:42:33 pm »
Playing with the concept...

Members with high Charisma should be allowed to run for office, but only within your budget limits.  Which, for most people, would just be mayor or less.  But that's a start, and such agents would be converted into Sleepers of that office.  As sleeper they'd be able to funnel funding into your organization to allow other members to run for office.  Keep it up long enough and you've created your own political party, and actually be bringing in enough income to run for higher offices like the House and Senate.  Once you've got you people in there, assuming that this doesn't win the game for it by itself, then maybe you could indeed generate the funding needed to run for president.

The catch is, of course, that anyone running for office would have to have zero crimes on their record, which pretty much caps their charisma stat pretty low.

Of course, this could be solved if there was actually a way to raise Juice without committing crimes, but so far that has yet to implemented.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: The "intended" way to deal with vampires
« on: November 02, 2013, 10:33:34 am »
Anyway, build a chain and put it into very small place. Set it used by justice. Have sheriff or someone else who deals with chaining criminals and such. Now condemn your vampire, wait until she or he is chained and after wall that small place. Problem solved...

Chain them outside, wait for daylight.  If they aren't a pile of ash by nightfall, they're not a vampire.  I dunno?

I'd also like to suggest "The Image" by Daniel Borstein.

As the public's demand for information has increased the amount of actual information has become stretched thin to the point of complete irrelevance.  Therefore, it's not so much as people suffer from information overload but rather an underwhelming since of triviality to everything because it's all been painted too thin for anyone to care anymore.

After all, why should only dwarves get fortresses?  "Chapter III: Human Fortress"

I mean, you can already build plenty of stuff above ground anyway.  This would simply be the next level (add option for roofs and you're pretty much done, in fact)

Totally serious here, BTW.

"Chapter IV: Elf Fortress"

"Chapter V: Orc Fortress" <- oooohhh yeah!

Is there a way to stop my Ladies/Gents/Androgynous people Man from constantly mentioning his 4 lovers well seducing someone? If not, how does this factor into seduction rolls.

Easy - dump someone.

Go to sleepers, task, join active LCS.  "Quitting job"  Wait one day.  Now they're in your group.  Fire them.

You now have -1 lovers that you did yesterday.  Job opening!

There is stuff about this in the code already, mostly commented out, about a "squad stance". Either covert, normal, or battle colors. Covert would be, you try to avoid detection as much as possible, and are likely to get away with crimes, and have little to no heat or impact on public opinion. Normal would be the current system. Battle colors would be, you openly take credit for every crime you commit, and Conservatives are likely to be alarmed from the moment you step foot in the door of a site, you wouldn't have any disguise or stealth at all, and you'd get huge amounts of both heat and impact on public opinion. It isn't fully implemented yet though. Well I guess it's obvious it isn't fully implemented yet since if it were fully implemented, it would be an enabled feature that's part of the game and everyone who plays the game would know about it by seeing it in the user interface.

This would naturally be followed by False Flag outfits that make people think you're the CCS, right?   :D

It is also possible to recruit conservatives if you have high enough persuasion.  Normally that isn't ideal because their wisdom and heart will be wrong but if you are going for violence that won't be too big a problem for you.

Date & Switch works even better, because then you can beat the Wisdom out of them once they're in your clutches.

It is common knowledge that the primary duty of the Vice President is to be such a mind-boggling reject that their mere existance dissuades anyone from even considering trying to kill the actual President.

Consider the mind of any lone gunman/sniper on a rooftop, looking down their scope and thinking...

"President Mondale"
"President Quayle"
"President Cheney"
"President Biden"

... their eyes widen, their finger jerks away from the trigger and they say to themselves "What the heck was I thinking?!"

Actually, death by being shot in the foot has actually happened before.  And in the case of the infamous Edward Teach, that guy got stabbed over twenty times before he went down.

The key factor is shock, and the first time is always the worst.  Sheer shock can stop a person's heart cold, as in the case of death-by-foot shooting.  On the reverse, someone who's already survived numerous severe injuries before will be more able to withstand it.  For a comparison, consider that a professional boxer can take punches that would lay a newbie out cold, even when both are the same size and the punch is the same force.  The seasoned fighter knows how to take the blow better.  As scary as it might seem, the same rule applies even to stabbings and gunshot wounds.

Sadly, there is no experience system in the game to separate the grizzled veterans and those who would fall over from a fleabite.

Too bad you couldn't just kidnap him and turn him into a sleeper agent.
