Gee Squeegy thanks for that link to a thread filled with terribly outdated 2d version information. With out that I don't know what we would have done for ideas in a 3d version. A whole bunch of those designs are terrible with the advent of diagonal moving.   :p

You people complaining about how Room designations can't go 3-d so why should our designs don't make any sense at all. Room designations don't need to go 3-d to take advantage of it, you want the rooms to be split anyways. Isn't that why you make the fractals with all those tunnels?

Anyways, you point is moot. Start being interesting in the Z direction!

I usually put my food production at the very top. Since loam, clay, and sand are so common it makes for a very quick and productive start for food.

I'm not sure what I'm missing but I've mined a bunch of lignite and would like to use it as a fuel. The problem is My smelter doesn't give me that option and neither do any of the other furnaces in my fort. What am I doing wrong?

The problem with Wiki's is anyone can add anything and they don't always know exactly what they are talking about. If every variation you've tried has proven that no cave in will work go ahead and fix the wiki.

Take away their weapons (give them whatever armor you can) then take them off duty (M -> V) and you should be good to go.

I think this would qualify as low hanging fruit, easy to implement with a reasonably large gain. Isn't there a mod that did this (although at the amazingly awesome rate Toady updates it's a pain to keep mods running :P) at least in previous versions?

I don't absolutely disagree with it. If there were more races to choose from it would give their race a great deal of character while not limiting design decision.

Want to make a tower? play a human!

But there aren't multiple races, there's just one...and that's why I vote no.

(It is a freaking awesome idea though)
