Thanks. I put it in the backstory that the character was slightly malnourished as a child and had some doubts that he'd pass muster on the astronaut physical exams, so those numbers fit well with the image.
Both of our characters seem to have "malnourished" as a background trait. Do you think you could change yours to a childhood illness instead to avoid too many similarities? If not then I have come up with a Team Name idea:

I have to ask. Where did one Vigor point go? Vigor and hp run on a 2 for 1. So you can't convert that vigor to another stat besides hp unless you use 2 vigor for 1 statpoint
I'll take a point of HP then, that should balance the ledger - unless...
... does that rule mean that one stat point worth of xp later on is worth two HP or Vig, or is it only one as the rest? Mind the answer, I'd very much rather not be forced to minmax those two.

If it's a concept test run, you may want to take the opportunity to throw weirdness at it to see if the system can take it; better to do it now than when you have the game proper running.

That said, let's have some weirdness:
I'll have all legs with gecko pads strong enough to walk upside down while holding on to pray,
  Some ranged weaponry such as pulse lasers on the forward leg pair,
  Gauss guns on the second pair and
  jump jets on the two rear leg pairs.
Armoured drill-tipped chelicerae with
  ClF3 containers for poison sacks,
  heavy duty plasma cutters on the pedipalps,
and to end it in great style, fully working spinnerets (or at least a hawser with a long reel, capable of applying or removing glue at need and retrieve or cut the hawser).

Did we see a feed to an outside camera? were there ships in the hangars? Would it seem possible to throw a bunch of switches and seal off entire sections of the base?

Sentient cockroaches overran this floor, broke down the walls, and built a replica of Metropolis. Not of just any metropolis, but of Fritz Lang's actual Metropolis Metropolis, on a 1:200 scale, including aerial traffic.

Right, a medic, but one dedicated enough to want to learn even healing magic (starter characters are always painfully too limited, there's no way I could stretch the xp enough to make a credible doctor).

All right, apparently I wasn't using the "right" kind of mile, or my double steps are slightly different, or it's the wrong phase of the moon, whatever. Bloody rubbish provincial measurement units, can't even get decimal right...
I'll keep walking until I find an interactive highlighting pixel (keeping an eye out for trouble and banana trees).

I intend to make a character, but first I'm going to read up a bit more on the rules, look up whatever you guys link and take a look at the older thread.
Tentatively, it'll be a Terran healer who came to Gaia to study healing magic and ended up needing a job; seeing that healing can be a XP-intensive set of skills and magic is even more expensive, he probably won't have much knowledge of weapon handling.

My first action is to research the local food supply while foraging. Pay attention to which edible plants grow where, and analyse the conditions on that "where".
Do spend enough time gathering said edible plants to at least feed myself.

((This species ability, does it mean that the players are members of different species and cannot cross-breed, or did you misuse the word and meant something like caste? In that case, is there social mobility?))

Summon bodyguard (summoning): summon an armed warrior of the same level as the caster. The creature will stay close to the caster and attack any enemy that comes within melee range.
