Right now i'm at writing readme, providing links etc.

Quick answer: you might also miss the MS Visual c++ runtime redistributables 2013

Added to my pack for the next release :D

In the process, I noticed that Configuration.json has a field "expectedMinimalSoundsCound" which should probably end with a "t" :P

I hope you include GTK# as well then?

Since there are no links provided on the release page I googled for the programs required.
.NET4.0 is already a part of Windows 10 so that I can't install.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 redistributables I already have
gtk-sharp 2.12.38 I found on https://chocolatey.org/packages/gtksharp but I can't figure out how to install it, the commands on that page doesn't work.

I did find a .msi for gtk-sharp-2.12.9-2 but installing that doesn't seem to help either.

When I run SoundCenSeGTK.exe nothing happens

I'm definitely thinking about logging the date, but so far other stuff has been higher priority when I have time - doing updates at all, fixing bugs, and so on.  Timestamps are moving up the list though :)
Maltavius might mean the thread title, so new releases would show up at a glance for anyone browsing a list of threads who remembers the previous version/date.

The Starter Pack has updated to 0.43.03-r04!
As usual, you can get it here.

This is an update full of small improvements and bugfixes, in both the launcher and my configuration of the pack.  Slower releases mean more time to track down and fix problems, as well as more time for bug reports to come in!  As usual, I'd love any feedback you might have.

And a happy 10th birthday to Dwarf Fortress - may we strike the earth together for another decade!

 - improved Taffer's colorscheme (thanks Taffer)

 - TwbT multilevel now optional (DFHack tab) due to reported instability
 - more DFHack bugfixes run automatically

Hmm, Win10. Don't have it, probably never will.
On win7 it never failed me to get the location of the gamelog. Maybe some security settings in win10 prevent other processes to check their location. Maybe i'll find something.

Meanwhile, i'll get the GTK version for linux and osx online this weekend.

Well that makes SoundCenSe non-usable for me. Since I can't specify the path and make it work either.

oh sry, thats where my DF testing grounds are. Config keeps track of the DF path last played.

And it should find the process on its own, yes. I check for the process name "Dwarf Fortress", get path and use it to look for gamelog.txt.
Which version did you try it with, Maltavius? Did the red circle turn green (right lower corner of the window)?

Did you try the Winforms or the GTK version (developer branch)?

My correct path is this:
"D:\Spel\Dwarf Fortress\Ironhand_43_05A\Dwarf Fortress\Dwarf Fortress.exe"

I'ts 0.43.05

I'm on Windows 10
I downloaded "SoundCenSe v1.2.4 Win32.zip" from https://github.com/Algorithman/SoundCenSe/releases

The Red circle never turned green.

Changing the path doesn't seem to do anything. When I set the path with only single \ the program doesn't even start.

Log file says this.

I just downloaded the latest release.

I put it in c:\users\username\Downloads\SoundCenSe folder.
I moved over the soundsense packs folder and started SoundCenSe and pressed update:

Update finished.

I start Dwarf Fortress from D:\Games\DwarfFortress\Ironhand\Dwarf Fortress.exe

No sound... I thought this would find the gamelog on it's own?

Looking through Configuration.json gamelogPath is =   "gamelogPath": "D:\\DF 0.43.03\\Dwarf Fortress 0.43.03\\gamelog.txt",

I guess that's on your system?

No! No Python!

Python has one HUGE problem, it's really slow. Anyone who uses Python for developing "real" applications is asking for performance trouble down the line.

.NET and JVM are OK (but not the best) because they use JIT native compilation or similar to get almost native speeds, but Python just uses a straight VM with all the performance problems that implies.

If you can't compile to native code, you have way too much overhead for large apps. The worst part is that the slow kinda sneaks up on you, and by the time you realize it's too slow it is too late to change.

Most Python apps have the most performance critical parts written in C (although most Python programmers just use the libraries and never realize this), if it was all Python it would never be fast enough.
SoundSense isn't that demanding nor critical.

Since i'm actually working on a replacement (without the need of java, can't stand the company oracle...) i hereby present:

SoundCenSe, a c# port of SoundSense.
It uses the same SoundPack, channels (weather, music, sfx etc) are all with own volume/mute controls.

Why did i do it? I reinstalled my computer and of course wanted to continue my fortress. But like i mentioned, i dislike Oracle (as much as Adobe).
So i couldn't use SoundSense. What else to do other than rewrite it?

OpenJDK is from Oracle. Microsoft is just as bad.

On that note, does it work with Mono? (On an android tablet for two more weeks so I can't check myself)

With 64-bit now working, can we get larger world maps? Eg. bigger than 257x257 ?
Also I'd very much like an Legends Export that exports a map on the Town-scale level.

This update checks off a range of new and old bugs, along with some new bugs caused by old bugs.  Fun all round.
Hopefully I won't find anything else that needs fixing before a 64bit pack is ready with 43.05... or perhaps a later version.  Time to strike the earth!

 - DungeonSet: can select in launcher, change on saves correctly, better text tileset
 - updated Armok Vision (bugfix)
 - added Therapist config (absent due to subtle old bug)
 - fixed SoundSense log config
 - removed Workflow option in launcher (replaced by vanilla manager upgrade)

If I could figure out how to use the new management system to enable limits I'd happily give up on workflow.. in the meantime, for those happy with the constant log spam when workers run out of resources, here's how to enable it (with thanks to the poster in the dfhack thread):

In the workorder P then "at most" the same number as you have the work order for. You cannot have infinite workorders be limited.

The only constructive post in this thread was made by GoblinCookie.

Personally I'd prefer if dwarves actually had a need for sleeping together and co-decided to do so. Only then would "spores" be planted, there need not be anything in any logs about copulation, only the need to sleep besides ones spouse/lover to be fulfilled which would bring joy.
Of course, having a spouse and being caught with a lover could tantrum spiral for fun.

Also, dwarves about to go into "labor" should be admitted into a hospital zone or at least in a bed, failing that a table, failing that a meeting room, failing that anywhere.
Not like it is now where "axdwarf hits the goblin" "cancels hitting: seeking infant".

Just leave sex in adventure-form out of the game!

I was just about to post a suggestion about Export / Import for Work orders.

Yes a guide or a textbox that has some small explanations on what stuff do. I feel like I need to know the inner workings/objects programming to build a good work-order.
