In my experience most "armored goblins" aren't really all that "armored". Plenty of places to stick things without having to worry about it bouncing off.

The caverns wouldn't have grass, they would have moss. Which is just fine for grazing animals.

So another wave of undead showed up, this time much larger and from all sides of the map. A few steps later most of them dropped dead like the two had before, but there are a few still kicking around. Or they were until my Giant Tiercel Peregrin got let out of the cage he came in. I'm tempted to try and pit the bodies, but really don't want to find out it was all a trap by some Necro waiting for people to come outside.

Oh yeah, I've also had a few Arcani corpse'... I have a feeling I wont be going outside all that much with this fort.

So I just got the wall up around the 2nd level of my above ground structure, which I use for military training/woodcutting, with an eventual statue garden on the roof.

As I begin to designate a small portion of the roof while my carpenters builds the room walls I notice I have a miner stuck on top, thankfully still alive, but thirsty and hungry. The thing is, he is stuck on top of the outer wall, to which there is no access, and has never been access. So I really have no idea how he got up there, especially since someone's dog was up there too...

Btw, has anyone else noticed the sprite for Dire Wolves looks more like a giant pink bunny rather than a wolf. Using Phoebus if that makes a difference.

Looking nice. There's definitely a lot of stuff to play around with, it's easy to lose track of bits here and there and then realize years later that you never built said building to make this and that a whole lot easier. At least that's what happens to me, but I tend to play without clear planning from the start, or lose it shortly after embark.

Do the Boodmother slaves count as dwarves when it comes to Vamp feeding? If they are even still around.

I just keep having thoughts of a two section fort, where all the important dwarves are Vamp'd while the rest are basically just for the occasional gone missing announcement.

Just got two decent migrant waves followed by the Dwarf caravan so I am scrambling to make something to trade since I had just started re-locating my workshops. As well as fort wide insomnia that will either turn out fine or I will fail to do anything in time...

I'm pretty sure the "vampires drink booze" fix requires them to drink blood too, so if you don't give your vampires any blood, they'll stop drinking alcohol and slow down.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works too, although I haven't had a vamp in a while. It could probably still be done, you would just have to either keep a population separated to breed for the occasional feeding. Maybe with a trip down the stairs machine for the chosen sacrifice to take a nap.

As for Warlocks, I just shoot them... They don't exactly wear all that much armor, and tend to burst into a cloud of their own blood when hit in the right spot. The only time I've had trouble with them is when I hadn't finished the roof to my above ground structure and a few had flying (or maybe wall climbing) Beetle mounts. Antmen can climb too, or at least jump a z level or two.

I don't believe I am. Pretty sure it's just a normal old Untamed Wilds, or maybe even Wilderness.

I'll have to watch and see if it happens again. Was two undead, separate areas, nothing else on the map raised or anything like that and they just dropped dead after a few steps.

I figure I will dispose of them down a pit just to be safe. At least until I get down to some magma.

No clue on that one. Never tried Adv as a Warlock, or anything but a Dwarf really.

Quick question myself if anyone knows something about undead. Just started a new fort, still early. Got an announcement about the dead walking and a few undead Dwarves showed up on the edge of the map, then died after a few steps. Am I correct at thinking this is because I am near a Necro tower, but not embarked in an evil area?

Basically wondering if I am safe from wandering undead (without a necro helping out), or need to adjust my fort design accordingly.
