First off, I love dfhack and I don't know what I would do without it. It is a powerful and awesome tool. Thank you so much!

Second off, I have run into some bugs and I am hoping this is the right place to report them. If not, kindly point me in the right direction.

First Bug: I've noticed that the workflow plugin seems to have a limited number of entries that it can take before hanging? You can duplicate this error by running a bash script with multiple (~320) entries of "./dfhack-run workflow amount X 2 1" Where X # # is a new and different item to be produced. Exiting the game with the "die" command or the conventional way results with repetitions of the following error for each workflow command that didn't execute:

Second Bug: I also notice in the autolabor plugin that woodcutting is snubbed completely if dwarves have any experience in mining. If you embark with seven picks and assign all your dwarves the "Mining" labor having all your dwarves dig and become dabblers, if you then enable the autolabor plugin and then assign some trees to be cut down your dwarves will refuse. Forcing one to disable autolabor and assign the woodcutting profession manually.

I run dwarf fortress and dfhack on a min install of debian linux jessie. If you need any other information just ask and I'll try to get the information to you as clearly as possible.

I don't know how to install it into LNP but I would guess one way would be that you would first set the LNP to one of the basic tilesets (No graphics).

Considering your kindness in posting screen-shots and your enthusiasm for diagonal walls... I created a 15x15 tileset for you. (I have found odd sized tiles tend to work a little better with diagonals) I threw it together at light speed so there might be some inconsistencies. Let me know what you think!

16x16 Tileset Updated:


-I added thickness to some tiles, namely the "/" "\" "=" and the male symbol. I also made changes to the cent symbol.
-I made the yen symbol more ASCII and less graphic. Not that it is too important but I kind of want to stick to the theme. I'll make a more graphic 16x16 tileset later.

And thank you all for your support. It is nice to see Taffer and CLA post here. I am one of their many admirers.

This looks great! I've been using the 12x12 tileset for 2 days now, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Overall I don't have many problems with it, but here's a few changes I made, if you don't mind me posting them:

(sorry that it's a pink background, I couldn't get transparency to work right)

-The cage symbol was a bit weird to me, so I made it 3 larger exclamation points instead of 5.
-The left/right and up/down arrows were different shapes, I made them uniform.
-I changed the "&" to a "evil creature" head, since I think those creatures are the only use of that tile.
-I prefer text to always be readable no matter what, so I changed the 'O' back to a normal 'O', and moved the pillar to tile 255. In d_init you can change the pillar and tree trunk tiles from 'O' to 255.
-This is just a personal preference, but I changed the fading tiles from dots to diagonal lines. The reason for this is because the dots would cause optical illusions sometime which hurt my eyes, I do like the dot pattern though, it just wasn't working for me.
-I inverted the barrel colors (which I now see you did as well).


I am very flattered! And I love what you've done! Many of the changes you made was exactly the direction I wanted to go! Would you mind if I took some of the things you have done kept on fiddling? You are welcome to take anything I've done and go with it! You seem to have a great eye for this. I am eventually going to make a second purer ascii and less graphic based 12x12 tileset.

One thing that struck me right off the bat is how difficult it is to see the dwarves. This could be remedied by filling it in with a translucent white color. Even if it's just barely visible it would make a significant difference. Darkening some of the punctuation icons could also help. Also the colors on the barrel icon should be inverted. For some reason DF uses the background color instead of the foreground color for barrels.

Other than that it looks great! The text is very easy to read and all of the icons are easy to distinguish from one another. And it's just generally pleasant to look at. I'll post some screenshots after I get a fort going.

Thank you so much for the feedback! It is much appreciated! And I'd love to see someone elses screenshots! I can't build a fort worth beans! And the forts I do build all wind up looking the same. So seeing the tileset from someone else's game would be edifying beyond reason.

-I tried to make the dwarves more visible sticking to the simple 1bit theme. I don't know why I shackle myself like this but I think giving myself limitations helps me to see things that I didn't see before.
-I updated the "+" sign to be thicker. I did the same for the logs and the "-" sign. So that they could be matching/distinguishable as different.
-I did the same to the amulet/female symbol.
-I followed your advice and inverted the barrel. It looks much better now.

Hello! I started using your tileset to get an understanding of what a good simple tileset feels like. I wanted to ask your permission if I could use similar tiles in my tileset. These tiles would be your sand/water/magma tiles, and my punctuation tiles will be heavily influenced by yours as well.

I'm still learning how to use TWBT as well. Is there any specific tile you would want someone to work on?

Tilesets and Graphics / Simple Mood 16x16 Tileset

I was taken by a strange mood after being stung by a honey bee while changing one of my hives (seriously). This tileset is the result.

I am nothing if I am not heavily influenced by the skills and talents of others. This includes their awesome tilesets. I owe homage to Taffer, CowThing, Lemunde, Jack_Bread, Lord Dullard, Kenran, Teeto_K, etc. I like looking at what other people have done and it gives me a better understanding of things I can do to improve.

Worked a little on the sinister biome. The wormy tendril doesnt look great now, i need to work more on them. Got a problem with one of the eyeball that seem to overide the ant colony too.
I've run into that problem too. I think the wormy tendril looks good. At least I don't think I could make it look any better.

I have a lot of problem with snow. When on the same screen there snow, sand and / or water, its really weird.
I've run into that same problem. I think I finally solved it for my tileset. But don't ask me to do it again. I worked on it with over a years worth of tweaking and I still couldn't tell you what I did. I don't think I am critic you can rely on, but I think yours looks good.

There a test with the sand, i have currently 2 way i want to do the sand and i'm not sure whish one to keep. The second need to be done better, but it gave me an idea how it looks in-game.
I like the first one. It seems to flow seamlessly from one tile to the next. In the second one there seems to be something that doesn't quite look right horizontally.

And found some cactus. They doesnt look so bad, but are weird in some way.
I like it :D It looks all thorny and ominous. Like it was just about to betray you and fill you full of holes. It may not look exactly like a cactus. But it is very cactusesque.

Hrmm. Your version of DF appears to be different from mine...

I can quickly make you a custom tileset to fix the 28 and 29. But changing tile 181 would change how the edges of horizontal bridges would look. (It is just one of those things that the ol' dwarf fortress and I didn't agree on). I think it tended to pick 181 for withered trees as well. I believe these can be modified in the raws though if it becomes too much of an eyesore. I'll think about the problem... but I found it very difficult to make 181 look both like a tree, and the end of a bridge. It is also a sideways chair and a mine cart track end :D

To change what Blood thorn would look like for your version just execute your favorite text editor, open DF/raw/objects/plant_standard.txt and under BLOOD_THORN replace the 181 with a tile you think better suited. Your blood thorn may not look like the below example, but is should be the same premise.

Thank you so much! You aren't doing anything wrong. I'll get to work on this right away. I also noticed that one of my double daggers is being used for the inside of some tree trunks.

The reason for it is because I haven't updated this tileset in a LOONG time. And I haven't been playing too much dwarf fortress to see where the differences are (namely with plants).

You are a brave man to use my tileset :D

I looked around on the wiki and dug into a few caverns.. I couldn't seem to pull up an example of this plant. Would you be willing to possibly...

a.) Upload the save file. Or...
b.) Use the following tileset and post a screen shot or tell me what number appears for the plant?

That would be awesome! But if not, I'll keep up the search.
