Very nice!

Lesson learnt: place important levers inside, preferrably near busy areas so someone can pull it close to when you want them to.

If you are going to that much effort, Torak, you should make the bridge out of blocks.

I've had a dwarf wanting (cut) gems. I had a bunch of uncut gems; as soon as one was cut my moody dwarf was off to collect it immediately.

I am upgrading my computer to better handle DF (among other things, like Oblivion). On the other hand, a gaming computer is mostly about the graphics card, which doesn't reflect the needs of DF much.

There is a bug that if a required workshop isn't built when a dwarf first enters a mood, then they won't occupy that workshop even after it is built unlessyou build it right on top of them.

Umgannakuthamud, "The Ambiguous Braided Thunders", a Rope reeed vest

Weight: 15Γ                       Basic Value: 8'800☼

This is a Rope reed vest. All Craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with Rope reed and Maple. It is made from Rope reed cloth. This object menaces with spikes of Rope reed.

Contents: kobold blood splatter

Somehow, I can't help but feel unlucky with this one. That is the last time I buy large quantities of Rope reed cloth from the caravan!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Magma Flow Equilibrium?
« on: February 10, 2008, 03:35:00 am »
There is always the option to flood the top layer with water, turning it into obsidian.

EDIT: Oh, and this will soon not be a problem. Toady will be changing magma vents to replenish slowly.

Its the carp you need to worry about.

That must have been one really good trade depot.

The point of having magma is to do without the melted coal for fuel, hence not needing to bring the additional wood. The absolute minimum would be the three wood from the wagon, the anvil and the ore.

Once you have the pick, you have rock and you have magma that can be channeled to magma workshops, negating the need for coal and the fourth wood to start smelting that coal.

Where I would diverge would be to use the second metal to make an axe, and thereafter produce large quantities of wooden barrels to fill with alcohol. Very well reasoned.

Also, if you have magma as well as sand, plants and metal on the map, you can get away without the extra wood.

I would rather sacrafice one shell and one bone for a barrel. Each unique meat gives you another barrel to be filled with booze.

Alcohol is cheap (2 per unit) and every 5 units iirc gives you a free barrel (worth 10 pre-made, 3 if you just bring the wood and make it yourself) which needs to be factored into the calculations.

All those +'s on the region map are human towns?
If so, that is a tad excessive.

Maybe when fighting during world creation gets added, most of them will be burnt down.
