If you deconstructing the bed from underneath him that might force him to go to the medical area or be transported to the medical area for treatment. Its a glitch I've run in to, sometimes the dwarf will collapse in to their bed and then never leave until they heal or die. Other then that, I don't know.

I have seen migrants arrive with the woodburning labor enabled, its just really rare.

Extra Dwarfy Challenge, install a self destruct mechanism in case of flying invaders
Mega Bonus, creating a series of stations
Mega Dwarven Bonus, connect them together with each one serving a unique purpose(eg. one is a farm, another is a weapons station)

One other detail I forgot to add, hes in a masons workshop, but he hasn't grabbed ANY materials at all, I know because I watched him closely, he just claimed the workshop and just sits there.

I read that on the wiki and it didn't help, he has bone plenty of bone available to him but just isn't using it and hes in a Mason Workshop.

One of my dwarves just went in to a strange mood, I got an announcement stating "Urist McBob, Butcher begins to stalk and brood"
He then claimed a masons workshop and broods saying "Leave me. I need... things... certain things...".
He isn't stating the item that he wants but I read on the wiki that when they begin to stalk around they most likely will want bone, so I slaughtered some animals.
No reaction.
So then I looked at his preferences remembering that apparently their preference for the material for the item they want to make is what they will demand. In his thoughts and preferences he said that he likes native aluminum. Unfortunately I don't have any.
What should I do? I'd prefer not to have to kill him since hes my best butcher and I'll need him later.

Don't creatures trapped in ice always come out as skeletons?

I had a dwarf who got trapped in ice and when the ice thawed he came out as a partially rotten corpse.

Is there a way to specify which stone is to be used for blocks? I really want to make some marble or granite stone blocks for a great wall, but I can't figure out a way to specify stone.

In one of my old forts a trading caravan arrived on the opposite side of the river across from the fortress. They decided to cross the river near the edge of the map where the water flow was lower then the rest. As soon as they stepped in to the river they were doomed, they weren't able to get out. At some points the trader or the Oxen would step out but for some reason they would immediately move back in to the river and become trapped again.

All of this was happening late fall, and I was curious as to what would happen as soon as it was enter and all the ice would freeze. When the ice formed all the traders instantly perished. I suddenly realized, this means I get free stuff! So I immediately told my Dwarves to go and channel into the ice to gain access to the goods. As soon as they dug down I found the corpses and the goods. Heres the weird thing, all of the corpses were actually skeletons. Weirded out I moved on and set the goods so that they could be gathered and moved back to the fortress. About 20 minutes(real time) after I took the goods, the traders and guards rose as ghosts and started to haunt my trading depot. They stayed there until my fortress failed, approximately 5 minutes later when a failed attempt at created a well caused the mines and then the fort to flood. Sadly I didn't notice until I was spammed with messages of "Urist Mcsomething canceled store item, could not find route." turns out he was trapped and drowned shortly. I tried to salvage the fortress but my attempts  were crushed by a group of goblin ambushers...

DF Gameplay Questions / How deep are DEEP METALS?

I know shallow metals are with in 10-20 layers of the surface, but I haven't found any metals past that point besides some native silver and gold. Is there a set depth or does it vary by region? Also besides Adamantium are there any other ores that can only be found deep down?
