Team 1 -- Day'yajira, magic cat

I knew I should have posted and said I editted my post... First, inspect myself for markings from the Omega Legion.  Those bastards didn't defile my beautiful pelt, did they?!

After that, head upstairs.  Examine the severity of the fire; If it's raging out of control, stealthily slink outside and try to climb on top of some building which isn't on fire.  If the fire is relatively small, sit a distance away from it and use my magic to quell it.  Magic solves everything!

((Is there any limitation on magic?  Like, do I have a limited amount of mana, and every time I cast a spell I'm using some?  Or can I just continue to use magic for everything?

@spazy
You're... waiving to them?  Is that some sort of weird lawyer threat?  Are you threatening to annul their rights to a free life?))
You peek upstairs. The fire is now floor to ceiling, and spreading along the walls. It's quite hot. Time to flee. You head downstairs, gather your retinue of wasps, and head out into the rain. It iswet, downtrodden, and smells of wet garbage. There's a ramshackle small building across the way, and you easily climb the garbage heap and low wall nearby to perch on it's sloped roof. The wasps are buzzing about down below, trying to shelter under the eaves.

Team 1 Jack Spark

Jack stands smugly for a minute as the idiots finally get the hint, before dissipating his flame column....only to hear what appears to be shouts of fire coming from the building he just exited. "Typical. Just typical. Can these morons go ONE minute before almost causing us to fail the mission?!"

Quickly jog around until I find an actual entrance other than the window, and re-enter the building. Call all the flames into a ball and snuff them out.

((Edit:BTW can I actually tell the effect of the rune I have, or would I need to train in Rune Magic to do that?))
There's a door at the back of the building where you are, which is locked. The basement door is open though. Flames are starting to lick the sides of the window you left through, and smoke is billowing out of it. Still wanna go in there?

Team 1, Cho-ja.

Murder. The. Mook.

((The injury isnt serious unless theres life threatening blood loss, or if im in possession of one of their ogans.))
((goddamnit, i have forgotten to put my team in my original post on every action since the first turn. le sigh.))
(2) -sigh- He's had enough and is retreating through the doorway, just ahead of your snapping claws. He takes the occasional swipe at you with that cudgel, but he's more trying to escape than inflict harm. The crowd ahead of him will be an obstacle, but you now have another, pint-sized obstacle, clinging to your face and yelling at you.
((thanks for remembering :P  Those of you who have been doing this, it's been a big help to me.
Those who have forgotten, don't worry about it.))

==Team 1==
BBTBMSM Simmie

"Oi! Bugjob, STOP THAT! We cannae get free booze if ye kill them! I taek threats ta me booze verra seriosly!" If Cho-ja does not stop, Simmie will attempt to climb up him and headbutt his chitinous forehead, or, if too smooth to climb, kick a joint wherever it looks nice and painful, yelling "YE'RE DEAF OR WHA'?"

You leap up and grab a mandible, still dripping with venom. It stings a bit. You headbutt the thing right in it's chitinous forehead and start yelling. This can only end well.

Team One, Fiddler!

Right, so what's this place look like? Any place other than a burning inn to visit? What forms of shelter can be located?
It is dismal, dank, and filthy. There are rundown buildings all along the alley, huddled close to one another in a vain attempt to shield themselves from the horror that is Dibbleton. Or at lest this section of it. There are some buildings that look to have easy access, both for a smallish fellow such as yourself, and for the elements. You are reasonably sure you can find a dive tavern nearby, judging from the quantity of passed out drunks in the alleyway.

***An Einsteinian roulette inspired fan game. Much credit for stat system and other game mechanics goes to Piecewise, as is the natural order of things.***

The human in the dented, scratched, and battered half plate, standing in the midst of the only greenery you've seen in weeks, raises his voice over the sound of bodies - yourm dirty, hungry, thirsty bodies - being ejected from the cart.
Alright, fresh meat! Settle down and line up! You call that a line? Ugh. I guess it's the best one could expect from the likes of you! You've taken your mark, or been branded by the Queen's Agent, or you wouldn't be here. Know what that means? You belong to me! Come forward - one at a time, damn you! those of you who can write, just fill out the form. Simple enough. Shut up, you! I'll walk the rest of you through the form, just place your mark in the indicated spot. Hurry it up. One at a time I said! What's wrong with your brains? You there! The impatient one. yeah you, come on up. And quit interrupting me.

Taken!
Snatched from the Circus, jostled, dragged and pokes, launched into space and through unknown portals beyond their understanding, six beings are dumped at last, weary and confused (and at least a little bit angry) into a lightly colored, lit room. The floor is tile, the ceiling is some kind of wood. The walls, well, there don't appear to be any. Instead, the floor changes to a steel grey outside of a square area about thirty feet to a side. in every direction, similar areas dot the area, some with walls, some with bars, one with what looks like black smoke, roiling violently, yet never moving beyond some undefined border.

Caged!
Panicked, the bird attempts to fly away, and discovers that there is some kind of invisible force field keeping it from fleeing. The humans look closer, and discover a glass like material, against which the bird repeatedly smashes itself. The bear tries to smash out, too, luckily on the other side of the room from the humans - that bear in a tutu seems pretty upset. The kitten just pees a little and cowers in  a corner. And the umbrella? It vent's it's rage by scratching things.

Fed
After some time, food is delivered through the roof. It is just poured in unceremoniously into a pile in the center of the room. Everyone eats, though some more reluctantly than others, then they sleep, whether out of exhaustion or because the food was drugged, none knew. Only the humans (and maybe the umbrella) had the capacity to even consider it.

pushed
Upon awakening, after the bird smashes itself against the window for a while, and food is once more delivered and consumed, a doorway is opened into a dimly lit, dark tan hallway. It is only visible from the doorway - from the sides only the room full of cages is evident. Small shocks and a sudden air pressure guide the six into the hallway.

Armed?
Down the hallway they go, into a room lined with objects. the humans recognize some of them as weapons, spears, axes, guns, and more. there are various types of armor present as well. In the middle of the room, a pillar, six feet tall with articulated arms gestures, waving at the walls in what appear to be inviting motions.

Roll To Dodge / Battle Arena: Gladiators of Chaos (OOC and Sign ups)
« on: September 05, 2015, 02:17:16 pm »
IC thread

Dragged from your many homes, selected by unknown means, for unknown reasons, you have been brought to this place and dumped unceremoniously into a large holding cell with many others, some somewhat like yourself, and others quite foreign to your experience.

You don't know it yet, but you are about to take part in some gruesome gladiatorial contests, your hope of survival is slim. Your chance of escape is laughable. Your hope of winning your freedom from the cold overseers of the Arena is unknown.

Your past is irrelevant. your hopes and dreams: meaningless. You have one goal: survive.

I had a game a couple years ago that the players seemed to like, called roll to alien, about life aboard a mixed species space station (no humans!) I am curious if there is interest in rebooting this game.

Roll To Dodge / Roll to Convert Mk. III

With Permission of Persus13, I am reviving his rtd, Roll to Convert.

original thread Roll to Convert
second thread Rol to Convert: Reboot Edition

The world is a fairly standard fantasy world, with whatever spin on it the GM (that's me) choses.

You are an infinitesimal spirit, desiring to be The One, the Great God of All.
In order to fulfill your dream, you must overcome many obstacles - war, religion, race, weather, fate, and the worst of all - those insane gods who have somehow infected this world, marring your glorious entry into Being by existing alongside you.

Your assets are limited. You have: an indomitable will, the ability to perform one minor miracle, and the ready ear of one potential prophet. With this, you will Ascend to Glory!

Sign up thus:
Name yourself - all actions you post must begin with your god name, or I will hava hard time finding you and hilarity might ensue.
Name one trait your potential prophet has.

I will then place you in the world I have sort of started to make, and we'll go from there.

You awaken slowly, one ear twitching slightly. It is dark out, and the humans are probably sleeping. You lift your head and open an eye to survey your kingdom. A fanged yawn accompanies a luxurious stretch, and you peer out from under the big, squishy armchair that still smells strongly of the man who shares it with you many evenings. The familiar sounds of prey and entertainment abound: mice in the walls, spiders carefully weaving their webs while eating their old webs, some small creature under the floorboards, making it's way to or from a den in a crack in the stone wall of the basement. The smells of the night are equally familiar: the chair, as mentioned, the warm smoky smell of the fireplace, now reduced to embers and partial logs glowing gently, the sweet smell of rotting fruit in the garbage bin, the traces of life everywhere. All is right in your little world, and your whiskers twitch in anticipation of the night.

Roll To Dodge / Insanity: Roll to Keep it Together
« on: February 04, 2015, 05:00:04 pm »
You are unbalanced. You know it. Your mind is broken in some serious manner, and you are on the edge - the edge of falling into oblivion, or sending them all to oblivion in your place. the edge of splintering into a million pieces, of losing it altogether. the edge of catastrophe. But you fight against it. You have something  you want, something you care about, something to do. And you will not let madness defeat you.

Madness is not without it's allure, however. Madness gives you power. Power over reality. Even in your saner moments, you believe this to be true. And the worse your affliction, the stronger the power, and so, you are drawn toward your mind's poison, against all reason. Quite literally.

I will be using random.org for die rolls, and my own terrible, terrible judgment for any modifications to those rolls. terrible, terrible judgment.
I will be tracking some statistics to help determine the general course of events. This is NOT minimalist. I will edit this post for clarifications and additions to the ruleset as issues arise. Hope this is fun and interesting.

There is no way this could possibly go wrong.

Roll To Dodge / Roll to Alien
« on: July 30, 2013, 01:33:00 am »
The game starts on page 4.
First Day ends on Page 27. First Day recap can be found there.

Howdy, all. This is my first attempt at a forum game, so bear with me.

You are an alien. Of course, you don't consider yourself as an alien: everyone else is. This game begins on an interstellar space station on which you live and work.

To join:
Alien species: give a description of your race: longevity, physical / mental characteristics, etc. Name the species if you want.
Alien individual: age, job, and how you arrived on the station. Also, perhaps, name.
Write out your descriptions. No Links, please, I don't want to read someone else's stuff.

I haven't decided on a maximum number of players yet (6-10, probably. I doubt I can handle more than that at the moment.)

Spoiler: character creation (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: RTD basics (click to show/hide)

I will attempt to have a round twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday. This schedule might change based on player input.
Active players should post at least once per turn. If a player misses a turn, their character may experience one of several results, depending on the situation at the moment. If they are in a day to day situation, they may simply continue as they are. Life and death situations, on the other hand, may suffer disastrous consequences from inattention ( I may roll for an action with a penalty or something)

If you are going to be absent from the game for a limited time, please make this known before hand. The same goes if you drop out.
I will also make sure you know when I need to be offline for more than a couple days.

DF General Discussion / Multiple fortresses
« on: June 18, 2013, 09:46:34 pm »
So, as I suffle through pages and pages of x(rope reed fiber sock)x, build cage after cage of goblin invader for spear practice, and at last discover magma, I find myself with a near irresistible urge - I look back on the happy days, the simple days, the early days of the fortress, and I find myself yearning to create another world, search about for a new type of site to experience, prepare carefully, and strike the earth! I already have two fortresses running, and am playing one community game.

At my peak, I had three different worlds running, each in a different stage of development, and even then I had to resist the urge to create a fourth, a fifth, a sixth. I fully intended to care for each fortress, but it is so easy to lose the details, to forget the projects I had planned, and simply to have no idea at all what was going on. I had promised myself to only run one fortress at a time this go-round, and then I excused making another world "for adventure mode." That lasted about five adventurers (less than two weeks). Then, I made the exeption for the community game as well.

What interesting tales of dwarven multitasking do you have?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / What is your stance on idlers?
« on: June 02, 2013, 12:23:13 am »
Idlers make me itch. Early on, two idlers will be enough to bug me. later (pop 50 - 100 ish), five or more will irritate me. More than ten drive me bananas, no matter how big the fortress (currently at 226 dwarves - 99 military, 80 civilians 1 baroness and 44 ... unfortunate accidents).

How do you respond to idlers? What do they do to your mental state? At what point do you begin assigning circular hauling paths just to get them to move their bearded behinds? Tel me tales of the great dwarven industriousness my friends.

p.s. I am a lot less picky about idleness in reality, but for some reason, those dwarves just get under my soil strata.

Urist McNoob cancels go to introduction thread: job item misplaced
Urist McNoob is possessed!
Urist McNoob claims a forum thread!
Urist McNoob mutters ....Ozarckintroduction needs ... greetings ... directions ... dwarf humor ...

So, I have been playing DF for five months or so. I have abandoned a dozen or so fortresses, and recently downloaded the new update (got a new laptop and the update came out just before - coincidence? Yes.). I am on my first fortress of the update, and I decided to try adventure mode again. I had played adventure mode a bit about four months ago, but framerate in towns was abysmal (1 per 10 seconds or something), and in hamlets it was pretty bad too, so I stopped. This time it's still kinda slow in towns (it can get down to 1 per 2 seconds at times). I have lost 5 adventurers in 36 hours. I am learning macros. They don't usually do what I think I have told them to do yet. on the other hand, my "make sharp rock" macro is pretty solid.

I made a very minor correction on a wiki page the other day, so I figured it was time to make an account, and here I am. Hello!

p.s. if there is an introduction thread somewhere, I will be happy to remove this one and go there instead. I couldn't find one. Urist McNoob may or may not have gone insane.
