If you ever overcome the laziness, do it as an optional patch and you can still be accessible. Those who want gauntlets can get DFHack and the patch, and everyone else can skip it.

I'll grab this again when there's a fixer patch for Adventure mode. Right now it's horribly broken.

That is a good question. Museums and libraries serve similar purposes, to preserve and display the works of people and nature. But a lot of museums have cafes either in them or nearby.

I'd link it to a library, myself.

Oboks don't happen in unmodded games, but that dude was baaaad.

Short story: Someone modded in organs that exist in real life but not in the game, and proceeded to use them on elves in ways that the modern world locks you up and makes you register for life for doing. And entered the story of doing all of this into the "Worse thing you've done in Adventure Mode" contest. He won. That's all I'm saying on the subject.

One day. Toady mentioned how technically difficult it was recently, but said it's something which he'd like to try at some point.

He used to say that wasn't a thing he wanted to do. Glad to hear he changed his mind on that.

I know this is all about native dwarf fortress, but you can fix the goblin issue just by making them eat, drink, and maybe age out. Not sure if elves are immortal, but if so you can keep them down with an age limit too.

It's times like these that strengthen or break a fort. I don't know how much time we have to work, but the best way to save the child is to incapacitate the mother and burrow the child safely away. It's risky to both of them, but there's no doubt the were will kill the child when it comes out.

Great work on the art and drawing us into the story.

Most likely they'll both try to escape as soon as the cage is released. You'd have to send in people to kill them to get them to do anything else.

Probably the same as you'd do for your own people. Mark all but one of their armor items as forbidden, then dump the cage. It SHOULD strip that one article off of them. Then run them across sharp sticks in a repeater trap on the way out.

Agreed on the prisoner question, obviously with the question of whether Ases can do the job on that officer.

Armok Vision is definitely fun, but it's getting an overhaul so it won't be available to the newest versions for quite some time. It's a pity. It looks so cool, too!

Well, Ases is friendly with a lot of the fort. Somehow. She can't be too stern if she's on friendly terms with people. Still . . . I'm going to play it off as them being impressed with her skills and her wanting to do everything she can to protect these people.

How very appropriate. I'm working my way through John Ringo's Posleen war books right now, and that's some pretty hardcore military sci-fi showing just how very much soldiers need to be backed up by traps. When the Posleen invaded the U.S. they quickly learned to avoid any area marked with the twin turreted castle that the U.S. Army Engineering corps uses as its symbol. Landmines, I tell ya. Fuckin' landmines. So many dead crocodile centaurs that the streets were sticky with yellow blood.

Can I get Ases's relationship list?

Ases is never going to be in love with that sword but it is totally the closest thing to a drinking buddy she has right now. I mean, it already drinks the blood of her enemies like she drinks blackberry wine, assuming we have that. It's what she prefers.

Ases stared at Slada over top of her sword. She looked down at the sword. "What do you think of that impression of you, sword?" Ases looked back up at a now slightly freaked out Slada.

"I think it's too low pitched." Slada started backing up. That reply came out in a falsetto, and Ases lips hadn't moved. Slada was too distracted to see her throat moving, and he started fearing the crazy lady with the talking sword.

"I'm sorry, I won't do it again!" Slada started to turn around to run and fell over himself. Ases just burst out laughing.

"Man, that was too easy." Ases looked back down at her sword. "But seriously, I really should name you. I can't keep tagging the corpses of my kills with property of sword all the time."

I would second that if he weren't a soldier. I somehow think having two parents who wind up dying in battle might drive the kids a little batshit insane.

Also, if said general doesn't kick the bucket before we end this campaign, I am totally suggesting your next adventurer hunt down the son of a bitch and end him manually. For irony points, kill a necromancer, take their slab, and beat him to death with it.

Or if we want to really fuck with the country, get a slab, and give it to him . . .

ETA: If she goes for anyone, it should be one of three people: A farmer, a scholar, or Duslud. Little guy is a testament to the horrors we're facing, and he still goes on living and doing his best. Plus his father is the local doctor. If anyone's going to bring up good little peacemakers, it'd be him.

She dreams of bringing peace to the world. That's going to take some doing, but it's probably beyond one person, or one generation. She might not care about family, but she might woman up and do the deed if it seems necessary to her goal.

If one of her nieces or nephews shares that goal, however, she might just take that one under her wing instead.

I am pretty sure Ases isn't having a family. I just wrote out this paragraph talking about the possibility, then I went back and let Ases decide the matter. She is put off by romance and family. So I doubt very much she would want to get married, and I'm sure she'd hate the thought of having kids. If she dies, her stuff and my attention will follow Zefer's family.
