I'm glad that a little trial and error got your initial problem solved! It is good to know that disabling true-type doesn't always do what it says.

About the lag in the web interface, that is much slower than usual. It it really hard to diagnose, but from the little bit of output that you copied it looks like there were some connection issues. It is entirely possible that it was on the server side.

Would this update fix the infinite loading symbol while watching games on the site? I can't even watch the demo game. It just shows the loading symbol, and the bottom says infinity fps.

That is less of a "bug" and more of a "I don't have a demo game running" issue. : )

But, yes. It is on the list of devoting a full-time VM for the demo.

Great news! I'm looking forward for an update :)

I posted a set of updated files. Please try it out: v0.1.9-test. Be sure to download the correct version for your operating system (32bit or 64bit). That may have been the source of some problems all along.

I added some more logging to the screen to aid in future debugging. I also added the option to add
Code: [Select]
DEBUG=True to the config file. This saves two initial images that the program uses. This may also be helpful for debugging.

I was wondering if we could get an estimate on when you'll be able to develop this again? I was looking forward to using it with some friends, but by the time I downloaded it these program-breaking bugs had appeared.

I'm going to make time to get back into development.

The good news is that I am now able to reproduce some of these errors.  That means that I have a hope to figure them out!

Also, to anyone who has had issues, you can try an older version. Version 0.1.6 may be one to try.

Can someone explain to me how to install the tilesets? I know it might seem self explanatory, but everytime I put the .pngs and .bmps in the 'tilesets' folder and then run df_everywhere.exe, it responds with:
"Tile Size Found: 16x15
Didn't find appropriate tileset image. Continuing" And then proceeds to crash.
Perhaps this should be included in the Initial Setup?

This is an internal error. There is no need to copy any images to the dfeverywhere folder.

This seems to be a separate error from what other people have been getting. I'll add it to the list to look at when I get back to development.

Is this still being updated? I am getting the same tileset crash. Anyone have a solution?

Progress is slow at the moment. Once more of my time becomes available, I will provide another update.

7
I'm going to have to do some more debuging. There shouldn't be a reason for it to find a tile size of 1x.

8
That isn't a lot to go on.  I will look into it to see if I can find anything.

9
I just tried it and it still crashes. Do I have to use a tileset btw? I mean, is vanilla ASCII working?
Oh and by the way it seems that I can't even watch a game, when clicking on the demo it just shows me the loading icon but nothing ever happens.

Could you be more specific about "it still crashes"?  It should work with either plain ASCII or a tileset.

Could you give me an idea of what errors the window is displaying? Also windows or linux?

I have the same error. :(

I've uploaded a new version (v0.1.8) to attempt to fix the problems with tile sizes. Check it out and see if it solves your issues!

I'll dig some more into it. I have also run across the issue, but it ended up fixing itself. This wasn't helpful from a debugging point of view.

I think the demo game just went down; I attempted to do something (unpause) and it seems to have crashed.
Could be client-side, though.
This seems extremely fun and useful, by the way.

Yes, the computer did die; no, it probably wasn't you.  I have been having issues with that VM.

Announcing the release of v0.1.7.  See the first post for details of how to install the linux version. Or read the steps on the website.

This version includes better code handling of random disconnections. The main update is linux support though.

As always let me know if any issues arise.

Thanks.

THIS IS AWESOME

I'm glad that you appreciate it.  :)

A quick note for anyone who noticed: the Demo is back up.  It is now running on a linux machine.  ;)

i.e. the next release of DFeverywhere will feature linux support!
