You send the message up, informing Uncle that you've found a large Jacathium crystal and it was guarded by emissions, which formed a highly offensive, highly damaging, gray mist.  You ask him for information and treatment advice.

The return message takes significantly more time than usual, and when it arrives, well..

Uncle doesn't know what Jacathium is.  He's interested, and thinks it must be a new mineral and is likely highly valuable, even if he doesn't know what uses are for it.  He does advise that you shatter it, though, stating that small chunks are almost certainly much less dangerous to you than large ones.

So I guess the question is whether we try to disable the crystal, or trust that the swarm takes a while to regenerate and leave it in place. It could be immensely valuable, though it might be hard to capitalise on that.

See if we can pull the crystal from the wall.

Check out the bottom of the pit - including the other passages.

Crystal's stuck.  Pulling it out is a lot of digging.. careful digging with real tools.  To remove it, or a good chunk of it, you'll have to break it.  You'd have to break it anyway if the full chunk is removed, as it's a big chunky thing that won't fit through the squeezes, anyway.

As for other exits, there's a couple of tiny ones, very narrow and far too small for people to go through, running upwards and downwards.  There's also a broken wall, leading to a vertical slab-sided shaft.  It's narrow enough to climb up or down like a chimney, which runs at least a few dozen feet up and down.  You think there's a space above just in view from the entrance.  Below extends beyond sight.

It also looks pretty tiring to climb through.

Investigate and fiddle with crystal immediately.

It's a crystal!  It doesn't hurt you when you touch it, but it's clearly a special magic crystal.  None of you have seen a rust-red one before, so it's anyone's guess as to what kind of crystal it is.

..Well, it would be.  The scan crystal strongly implies this is "Jacathium", whatever that is.

Trence uses Frozen Double Slash!  The mist is torn apart, and recedes away from the party, dissolving into nothingness.

Trence then transforms back, and almost falls into the pit, no longer being close to large enough to cram himself between both walls.  Sessha grabs him, and he scrambles to safety.

The mist evaporates, resembling nothing more than scraps of burning rubber, wiggling, turning, and shrinking into small islands of mist before disappearing.  The bottom of the pit is revealed in the glowstone light.

It's clean.  Like this whole chamber, it looks like it was scoured by water and drained.  At the bottom there are small black and gray chunks, a couple of dark spots that might be further passages..

..and a rust-red crystal, about the size of Blade Dragon Trence, sticking out of the wall.

Well, that worked.

I walk close to the box but make sure to not touch it, and renew my gravity reduction. If (and only if) it worked, then I'll try to jump over the box without touching it. If I do end up touching it I immediately get off it and away from it as fast as I can, but if possible I'd like to regroup with my teammates.

Most of your teammates are well ahead of you, close to the hexa-bot.  You settle down and try to regain psuedo-flight, by reducing your weight.

(3+2) (9+3)  Not this time.  Ahri feels the spell misfire, shooting out behind her before she can gather and shape the energy into one effect.  It arcs up into the sky, hitting nothing but air.  While the fighting is going down, she's stuck outside the cratewall.. unless she climbs the staircase right there.

Continue to stab in the gap.

Xin: Charge at robot with greatsword

Yes.  That.  Assist the murderbear.

(Automatic hit) (4+4) (12 vs 10+12, 22) (8 vs 4+10, 14)

Stabbing in the gap doesn't seem to do much more.  The leg is disabled, and stabbing up is blocked by a fresh steel barrier with little leverage in.  Indeed, the top of the joint seems more fortified than the rest of the robot.

..But if you take out a second leg, the robot will fall, unable to continue walking.  Moving on up, Terinas stabs at the front leg, and begins tearing away a second gap, making progress.  The greasy oil/blood stuff makes this quite disgusting, but progress is being made.

(1+6)

Xin is a little late to the party, and can only manage one attack.  If he wasn't undead, he'd be huffing and puffing.  As is, he is chugging away juggling his weapons as he closes the ground less than optimally.

(2+1)

Still, he's just in time to make a sliding two-handed stab at the damaged front leg.  Unfortunately, there is a lot of oil on the ground, and the dullahan gets tangled up in the broken leg, sword coming about a foot away from scoring a hit.

(Berzerker bonus applies.  Combat now at +2.)

"I wonder where this leads!"

Continue to be a fancy hat.

Gnwbimbar resists the urge to follow it onto the elevator.

It is perhaps a good idea to not follow it on the elevator.  As it rises into position, it isn't unoccupied.  On it are two more hexabots, each slightly smaller than the missilebot.

They look dangerous.  Each one has two extra limbs out the front, ending in round thin disks which can only be buzzsaws.  Very fast, surprisingly quiet, buzzsaws.  Their legs are thinner than the heavy, chunky ones on the missilebot, but they are still metallic and look strong.  Their tops aren't smooth, with steel loops sticking out at multiple locations on top of them.

The missilebot hasn't walked onto the elevator yet.  Perhaps it's waiting for the two sawbots to get off the platform?  There's certainly space for all three of them, but proximity to the sawbots looks hazardous.

Trence uses Icy Slash!  His claw becomes covered in white energy, and he tears at the air in front of himself.

Willis uses Ice Arrow!  Another arrow vanishes into the mist.

You think it's perhaps getting a bit thin at this point.

Sessha casts Heal!  The party is maxed out!  At least of the temporary damage.

The mist may be weakened, but it isn't yet gone.  It tears at the party once more.

Everyone takes 20 damage, ten of which is unhealable.

Fly towards the castle, landing well short of it.

"Normally, castles are for breaking or living in.  But time to enact The Plan.

Humbly request entry to the castle for my quest.

Trence uses Tidal Breath!

The breath attack vanishes into the gray mist, sprays of ice and water turning into nowhere.  It's certainly destroying something, but it's difficult to judge the amount of pain being caused to a cloud from inside it.

Willis uses an Ice Arrow!

Willis's perfect aim is pretty useless here, as he simply draws an ice arrow and looses it at no point in particular.

Sessha casts Sonic Stun!  A.. ray? comes from her finger and creates a small fixed spot in the air in front of her.  The overall mist isn't affected, but a small amount of it was frozen and the pattern of flow is slightly disrupted.

Still, the oppressive mist covers all, as it tries to clamp down on the annoying pearls in its centre, pressing down from all sides.

The party takes 21 damage!  10 of it is semi-permanent.

My reverse image searching tells me that the Shrimp is an ASM Val. Very interesting, I haven't heard of this gun before. Thank you for sharing this photo.

(Rarer weapon than a Val.  The extra siderails makes it a SR-3MP, hence 'Shrimp.'  Like anything decent made in Russia, they can't make hardly any of them.  And, as you'd expect it, these are reserved for basically his bodyguard and murder units.  They do look almost like Vals, though, so calling it one isn't far off.)

(..That particular one was captured, and as I mentioned, you don't see these units fighting in Ukraine anymore.  They buggered off to leave the dying to the serfs.)

Russian nationalist war blogger Andrej Morozov has apparently comitted suicide after being forced to remove a post on Telegram about the high Russian death toll for the 5 month battle to occupy Avdiivka (he stated 16000 Russian soldiers were killed and 300 armoured vehicles were lost.

His message gave rise to severe critisism by high ranking Russian propagandists, who accused the blogger, who has more than 100000 followers, of slander.

Today, several sources reported that Morozov is dead. According to his lawyer, Maxim Pashkov, he shot himself. He says the reason for his death is can be found in the many Telegram messages he left prior to his death, accusing his superiours of forcing him to remove messages about high casualties, and accusing generals of sacrificing thousands of soldiers just so they can be decorated and promoted.

Good to see those FSO guys are getting a workout after fleeing Ukraine.

Put down the crack pipe, please.

Mmm hmm.

Wanna tell me what this is, right here?

Shonus, the fun part about that the "Biden isn't sending enough support" and "Biden is sending too much support" are being said by the same people.  It's like how everyone is desperately afraid of saying things like "Biden is an excellent president."

Goal is, as always, to support autocrats.  If you can drain support by telling both lies to different people, you 'win'.

29
Currently, as I see it, Biden is For Ukraine, and Trump is Against Ukraine.

Biden is pro-war and Trump is anti-war.

Trump has said he'd end the war in a day (doubtful.) He hasn't stated what the terms for peace would be, but there's no way Ukraine would accept Russia gaining territory. It's possible Russia wouldn't end up paying war damages or facing justice, but there's still a deterrent if they lost so much for nothing.

Letting Ukraine bleed so that Russia can bleed isn't entirely pro-Ukraine.

Mmm hmm.

That's a lot of words to avoid saying "Look, Trump supports stealing hundreds of thousands of children.  Why do you oppose that?"

Also, Europe isn't doing anything?  I mean.. there's the tank factory deal.  And they've provided more military aid than the United States, however much pro-Russian Americans want to lie about how Europe is doing nothing.
