General Discussion / Re: Things that made you sad today thread.
« on: December 19, 2013, 09:20:21 pm »
So I drunk texted this chemistry phd that I was seeing a while back but who broke it off abruptly in October. She's be liking and commenting on my fb stuff recently and she responded to my texts.

We went back and forth. I asked her if she wanted to grab a bite and then she said yes. I respond and she's been ignoring me ever since...

Fuck. All I want is a woman who can understand my mathematical frustrations and who wants to cuddle. Why am I never good enough for a straight up no? Gawd. Why did you say you wanted to date then abruptly say it's complicated/lets be friends and then ignore to this moment?

A more radical approach would be to use a custom modded creature that has alcohol as blood. (Or, blood that has the alcohol token)

That way normal blood spatter contaminant from the creature would service the goal perfectly with more conventional tactics, and less complicated modding. Something like "Beer barrel mimic" or something.

Clearly, the only creatures with an alcohol blood level are dorfs themselves.

I developed the "doesn't care about anything anymore" trait.

Man, this reminds me when a reclaim went poorly... like 5 times. 6th time worked. There was wine and beer smeared all across the snowy embark from the destroyed expeditions. I'd like to imagine dorfs licking the snow for alcoholic sustenance.

I guess with desensitization you can't just use dorfs or beagles : P

But seriously, you should start impaling some of your citizens/ causing them to randomly fall. A repeater which opens a floor hatches in a meeting area randomly and drops dorfs 2-5 z levels will break bones. Major injury can desensitize dorfs, just as killing lots of sentients.

Dude, giant olms are not something to triffle with. They will chase down dorfs AND MURDER THEM. I've had to conscript a spear militia quite a few times to drive one from the fortress staircase.

Note, spear militias are best militias.

Well I know the wiki states that caving in ice can create pools of water, but it's iffy/buggy.

More than four years ago, one of my original 7, a miner, was hurt during a cave-in. Her lower spine's nervous tissue was cut open, but despite the fact that I have plenty of crutches she will. Not. GET ONE. So she's been crawling around since forever. UUUUUUGH.

-sigh-!

Crawlers are the most tenacious dorfs, resilient in combat, never tantrum, and continue working even though they are lame. You sir, are truly blessed by Armok. Make this lady your hammerer.

-Question:
If you had the choice between a site with 5000ish emeralds and one with 2000 Light Yellow + 4000 Faint Yellow Diamonds, which would you choose? (I really want rubies and sapphires but prospecting has only yield deposits in the hundreds.)

What you need is to make the depot isolated from the main path to your soft dorfy peasants, who are the draw for the goblins, with an airlock. Place upright wooden spikes at the bottom of the pit.

I had a demon general who had deadly dust arrive a few weeks back. The said dust just put people to sleep, he wound up putting all of the goblins and cave dragons to bed.
The hammer dorfs had a jolly good time.

I am just imagining the general ordering his troops to charge and finding them all asleep.

454. Digging a death pit may results in unintended deaths.

Lost about 4 dorfs to building a death spire and a miner is now vomiting everywhere. Of course the 5 doctors are on break.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Why do you gen worlds ?

I usually gen worlds with a specific goal in mind, mountain lake, lots of glaciers crashing into mountains, variety of evil biomes....
