Terrain no longer grants a save, it now gives +1 to saves, or +2 for certain terrain types. One of the 8th ed changes I really like.

Finally got around to getting a proper chalice for this guy, so here we have a WIP shot of my third Mousillon marine. This chap is basically supposed to a Bretonnian/Astartes version of Isabella von Carstein, so sword, magic cup of blood that heals people and hangs around infantry blobs. Going to count as a Plague Surgeon.

I'm not sure putting the biggest cities in stasis is necessarily a good idea. That's ten years the rest of the world is missing them, which will just make the disaster worse if it's possible for anyone outside the cities to survive the apocalypse plague, and then you have to deal with the logistics of supplying the cities post stasis when the surrounding infrastructure is ruined. In post apocalypse scenarios you don't want to overburden yourself with too many people before you get back off the ground.

Ideal choices would be places with some farms that fall within the notional city limits, a smallish population with a broad range of technical skills, a good set of schools, robust well engineered surrounding roads that can last with minimal maintenance, mild weather year round, good stockpiles of complex medical supplies, refineries for various resources and they should ideally all be within a reasonable distance from each other to coordinate rebuilding the world together without needing to rely on a likely failed communication network. Clean water sources that will still be available post apocalypse and stasis of course. Bunch of other stuff to think about for after the apocalypse.

Probably wind up picking a few medium sized cities in the region of France/Italy/Spain as a first instinct. The weather's not too extreme to become a major problem unlike a city in Canada or Saudi Arabia for example, decent natural resources, they're close enough that travel/cooperation isn't a major hurdle, populace has a decent basic education level, no particularly problematic diseases or vermin that I can think of.

Cities with huge food/water stockpiles would be a good choice, but I'm not sure if it would outweigh other considerations by itself.

Third wisdom tooth has decided to start pushing up through my gums and appears to be doing the worst of them so far. My gum is inflamed and hurts around it, food scraps keeps getting caught under a flap of gum tissue partly stuck over the little tooth nub, and I can smell my own breath which currently smells like death.

Apparently this is called Pericoronitis and may need part of my gum or the tooth removed if it doesn't clear up.

I hate wisdom teeth.

My snake bit me today. Not super surprising in itself, pets bite from time to time, but this is the first time he's done it, or even tried to do it apart from once when he was small and wasn't able to see well due to shedding at the time. So that's about 2 and a half years or so till first bite.

Didn't hurt, but it did take me by surprise. He was fine when I took him out of his viv just after, so I've no idea what brought this on.

Not good last I heard. Never fought one myself and don't have a space marines 'dex, but they never seem to be spoken of in good terms.

Similarly cute is the unrelated Madagascar sucker-footed bat.

Been a few days so I figured I'd just doublepost.

My second Mousillon Marine is finished. Not entirely satisfied with the chest being so plain but I don't want to just cram skulls or something on and only putting up with the flag because it's too much effort to keep fixing and refixing a black on yellow fleur de lis. Still, he looks fine from a distance and goes well with his sorcererous brother.

Gave him a plasma pistol to keep him roughly in line with Blightbringer wargear, as that's his intended role in my space vampire Death Guard.

If I ever revisit him I'm probably going to focus on changing his flag up so that it's a ghost face or something so I don't have to feel disgruntled about my lack of freehand skills.

Thanks for the heads up!
Is it any good barebones with no DLC?

It's not bad without DLC, kinda limited in terms of who you can actually play as because non-Christian religions are DLC locked, but Christian Europe is what the game was designed around. Usual suggested list of DLCs is only about three specific ones with the rest as more or less optional.

DLC goes on sale quite often as well, so it's not hard to snap it up cheap.

Leeches: Apparently useful.

Yeah leeches are pretty handy for blood flow stuff. I remember seeing a guy getting facial reconstruction with a few leeches on his face to help blood flow in the area that had been rebuilt a few years back.

We also use maggots for cleaning out injuries sometimes. Some types only eat dead flesh, so we drop a few sterile ones into infected wounds and they eat all the necrotic tissue.

So is this now the Ameripotato thread?

I have had few dinners without chips. It is a staple of Scottish dinners.

Also mince n tatties, but I don’t like boiled or mashed, so I give that a miss. Stick with my chips.

Same here, chips wind up being part of most quick and easy meals I make because I'm not a fan of other quickish methods of making potatoes. Just one of those annoying things were tastier stuff takes a lot longer and I often can't be bothered spending an extra forty minutes waiting for food to cook.

Finished my Mousillon themed sorcerer.

Very happy with how he turned out, now I just need to figure out what models I can use to pull together some more vampire marines.

The Redwall books were the shit when I was a kid, though I remember they got somewhat formulaic after a while.

They got formulaic about three books in.  :P

Do you have a plan for how they can learn the proper activation sequence?
