Was flicking through the RAWs and apparently I managed to spell sergeant wrong in the entity files.

I'm also a touch annoyed that we've had enough time for a turn but we've had one absentee governor and their intended successor is busy. So much potential progress wasted, so much time that could have been used to build an extravagant statue of Armok in his human worshipped form of an iron armoured angel with golden wings and a sword of obsidian...

Hmmm. Your avatar, Sutremaine, has given me an idea. Maybe if I modded the games files so I can have doctors treat the wounds of enemies...and then I apply doctors with zero diagnosis skill...well, it'd work on the demons with organs. I don't even want to know what it'd do to blob-like demons.

Either that, or I can use the (relatively) simple plan of building a few small walls in hell and then use that as a place to start magma-ing the place and then turning that into obsidian.

I don't think there's a way to make doctors commit malpractice on enemies. It might be possible to make a weapon that uses one of the medical skills in combat though and have a squad of battle surgeons wielding razor scalpels or something.

Sheer drunken determination.

Why is a silk sock more dangerous than an adamantine warhammer?

Pity, the idea of catapults set in bunkers behind the walls is quite a stirring one from a narrative perspective.

Isn't the range of a siege weapon far greater than the range a dwarf can see?

We could probably use catapults for fire support against our lighter armoured enemies.

A perimeter wall should be your first concern, after that farms and food storage. I tend to build a dining hall after that with a second floor that serves as a dormitory as a stopgap to building houses. You'll need a way to get in/out of the fort when necessary, so an airlock of some kind. You will almost certainly need soldiers quickly, flying enemies will just go right over the walls and attack you.

Tbh the intent of the poll was to ask for preferences for successors to this game. I fully intend to make a Bridgedstreams II at some point. Even if there are no streams to bridge or extinctions to reverse.

As for the current fort, I doubt we'll get beyond reaching the election of a Mayor. We may get a long time before sieges occur but by then our wealth will have been generated so high we'll be outnumbered something like 10 to 1 in each fight.

Fortunately monopolies aren't supported in the RAWs yet. If they ever are then anyone that enables them will be subject to the whims of nobles and those who befriend the king.

I more meant that we technically represent a single unit that would normally comprise a civilization, we're already supposed to be the smallest unit in feudal politics: A single town. We just lack an economy and world interaction to make this apparent. It would be rare for a town to actually be divided up among nobles in the feudal era, that sort of thing came a bit later on. I think the correct term to apply would be monopoly, where the king gave the legal right to manufacture something to one man and anyone else who did it was breaking the law.

Know what? I actually LIKE that idea. But change up the nobles ruling one industry and you're set. I mean like captains are all under the commander and the commander serves the expedition leader/mayor only. Like a general to his king and the captains under him. All the captains would be responsible for a certain area that they protect with their squad (would stop sparring squads though) and the commander kind of watches over everything but isn't really attached to one area or section. And the mayor/Expedition leader just kind of rules all but only commands the commander to do his bidding. And all the lower class peasants would be governed by the captains and protected by them. Its pretty much Monarchy with a chain of command

That's how feudal monarchies worked to some extent. The king gave land to the nobles who answered to him, they then divided that land up among minor nobility who answered to them, they then oversaw each town and village who had leaders that answered to the minor nobles taxmen. Roughly speaking anyway.

We technically already have that in place, it's just that we represent a section relative to the rest of the kingdom rather than being subdivided ourselves.

It's not a problem, I'm just wanting to avoid a situation where we don't know who our current governor is.

By delay do you mean give you a few days to clear up your turns on other forts or do you mean we should skip to the next person on the list?

So every corpse in a coffin would leap to life and try to kill everyone as well as dead invaders?

Is it possible to make a weather effect that raises the dead as zombies?
