Now that we at least have weapons for most other land combat situations, should we look into producing some anti-tank or anti-aircraft guns, or possibly one combined weapon? I have in my head a picture of a man-portable weapon that can be configured for anti-air, anti-tank, or artillery(mortar) usage, but would that even be doable? I suppose I'll propose it anyway.

17: Design the  Man-Portable Ordnance Delivery System (MPODS) Model 1 "Chameleon"
 Major Features-
As lightweight and compact as possible
Can be reconfigured for Anti-tank, Anti-Air, or Artillery usage in the field through different ammunition types and attachments
Capable of piercing Badger armor somewhat reliably (we don't really have any other yardsticks to measure against)
Range of at least 300 meters in anti-tank configuration, 3000 meters in anti-air configuration (mostly for taking out helicopters), and 3000 meters in artillery configuration.

Explain that it is my business because if I intend to serve with them I'd rather they not have a fight every ten minutes. If they don't seem receptive we should just walk away. We can't afford to alienate either side right now, especially when a rather important noble's son is on one of said sides (what if the Count is an admiral and we end up serving under him?).

Unified Marine! If everyone doesn't get along we'll kick their butts!

If they're both inside the armor of the tank like they should be, I'd say a human loader and autoloader stand about the same chance of being damaged in combat. However, you've convinced me. It seems to me that with our limited resources, we need a tank that is as economical and as easily produced as we can get, and a four crew member tank is not going to be that tank. It's probably worth the small reduction in possible effectiveness of our tank in order to be able to field another battalion of infantry.

Name: Torant Roscius
Gender: Male
Background: Torant was a Master's mate aboard the Pioneer, a ship of Asgard's Exploration Fleet, which was sent to far-off lands in search of glory, and as such was away from Asgard when the invasion first struck and one of the only ships to survive through the war. With many officers dead, Torant was picked by his captain to go to the War College.
Age: 19
Social Class: Commoner, from a long line of fishermen and traders, "seawater in the veins" types, Torant would be the first to actually hold the command of an officer.
Choice: Grand Navy officer, wouldn't you know. The look on Grandfather's face when I told him!

An autoloader would be one more piece of mechanical equipment to deal with, going against the philosophy of being able to maintain the tank in the field. A fourth crew member would give us a lot more versatility, such as being able to mount an MG on the tank, or we could even have them designated to perform the more involved maintenance on the tank, helping us out with repair in the field, or even have them operate the tank's radio or something. Aiming should probably take more time than loading given that we might be working with equipment that could be outdated compared to any enemies, so getting good hits that count would be more important that mass of fire thrown at the enemy. Having a fourth crewman would distribute the task load more, which in my mind seems like it would balance out the fatigue caused by a cramped environment, which they aren't going to inhabit for days on end anyway. I agree with you on the size of the tank though, and that's something that we might need to address. I also tend to agree on the cost to maintain another crewman.

PTW. Also, about the tanks, I'd think that a useful change would be to have a human loader like the Abrams has instead of an autoloader, as this would (probably) reduce cost, increase survivability if wiki is to be believed, and give us some redundancy if someone gets injured, as we would still have enough crew to operate the tank at good efficiency even if we're down a crew member.

Let's just follow the farmer's lead and keep close to the wagon, and if we have time we should pick up a bunch of rocks to throw at the people who seem to be pursuing us if they attack us.

IF they've lost their position, maybe we should offer that they emigrate to Asgard if they can. A foreign officer could be quite useful both for training our troops to use modern weapons and helping us get those modern weapons built or imported (like a foreign veteran in Shogun 2 FOTS?).

Keld shrugs as if to say "You should have spoken up if you wanted to turn him away", and continues to sit on the stoop outside of the brothel. Once the man leaves, he tries to drum up interest around town in building a rough building adjoining the Brothel to serve as an Inn, reasoning that if the tailor could get a building built, so could he.

((Question: I notice that Jim took one of the "official Police Horses" out of town a turn or two ago. Where are these horses stabled?))

PTW. While we're out there, maybe we should ask if the Queenlanders or Bearlanders have any similar alloys to what we're trying to produce?

Scrawled writing on a cave wall in a mixture of blood and rock dust
I'm dying. I've failed. Failed Capital, failed this fortress, failed my friends. I was one of the last ones left of us early founders, but the others were smart, they've kept their heads down. So did I during Torgue's rule, and he ruled well. We smashed invasions and everything went alright, except for what happened to Dhoor. Something had gone out of him toward the end, so I'm glad he went out with some semblance of glory and honor. Escondida's the Overseer now. What's happened isn't her fault.

Can't you see I was trying to protect you all? I fought for the people, damnit! And now here I am in a pool of blood because the mayor fecking poisoned Goden! He fabricated some story about millstones and told me to put a fist in Goden's face, which I did happily because of all the damn paperwork I was going to have to do, and his skull caved in. That doesn't happen to normal dwarves! The only answer is that Leadpaint Love or whatever that bastard's name is did something to Goden that was eating him from the inside out, or Goden was already dying from a cavern sydrome or something. That doesn't matter now though, because his death set off a whole wave of anger and suddenly the rest of the Guard was nowhere to be seen. They were in on this too. What's more, not everyone in that crowd was a normal rioter. Some of them, especially the one that's really done me in, had the look of professionals, who probably belonged to the mayor. What was I about to find out that I needed to die? I got away, but I've got a broken bone or two and someone put a knife in me, so I'm bleeding out. Not too great for someone who couldn't walk in the first place. They'll be back too, I think I can hear them a floor or two away. Maybe I deserve this. I let Houn die, I let Dhoor die, I let Beirus and his 'son' die, among the dozens of others I could have saved too.

No. My watch is not yet over. My body may die, but my duty will not. I hear Capital calling, I can see the golden light. Damnit, here they are to finish me off. There will be another Benev, and he will not falter. I will retu(splotches of blood are all that can be seen)

EDIT: Yeah, a new dwarf would be great! As far as preferences go, gender doesn't matter, and I'd like to be a metalsmith I think.

"I suppose so. The old owner put that up as a rules list, but I think we only need three. You will not bring weapons inside the building, do not get too rough, and you will pay your bill. So hand over any of your weapons and I will see if I can let you in." Keld holds out his hand for the man's weapons.

So it's been 2 weeks since Torgue's last post, and a week since than402 and I tried bumping the thread for attention. And it's been nearly 2 months since this turn started. I'm quite willing to wait if Torgue is still interested in playing this year through to the end, but if there's still no word by, say, next Thursday (25th), should I just start the year anew? Thoughts?

Edit: Spell names correctly

if we are to continue, yes you should
Agreed.

I ask Tuypo's employees how well they got to know him in the day or so that they worked for him, and ask if they can think of any reason someone would want him dead. I then ask Biggs and the Mayor about any previous murders in New Jamestown. Finally, I cite a bit of (nonexistent) Seugden law that states that by having defeated Tuypo in the duel, and Tuypo having no next of kin, I can declare myself as his heir and now own the Brothel and the land it is built on. I then hang around the Brothel for a while, hoping the killer will return to the scene of the crime.
