personally i think that if abortions become illegal it should in turn become legal to force men to adopt unwanted babies and care for them until they're 18

Wait, I have a better idea. We should give every state voting power equivalent to its population. The more people in the state, the more votes it gets.

"None from me."

Baronel pushes himself to his feet and steps down from the cart. The feeling of pressure in his chest, the tightness that had been slowly growing since their wagon stopped, suddenly became much harder to ignore. No matter how much he tried to tell himself that everything was going to be all right and that nobody wanted to shed any of his blood, he simply could not ease his worry - the thought of his secret being exposed could not be quelled by reason.

However, if nothing else, he was still decent at putting up a front of bravado. An old favorite pose comes to mind; Baronel stands himself up straight, sets his feet apart, and thuds a fist into his palm.

"Let's get started."

"Our enemies have infiltrated even a place like this? Is there truly no end to the lengths they will go, no bottom of the depths they sink to in order to see their machinations come to fruition...?"

That's probably how the Necrophyte job operates - they reanimate everyone who dies and eventually there's enough necroids to constitute a full pop.

It kinda makes sense. Unless you're purge-converting, which garners an opinion malus, you're not really doing anything wrong. Not like anyone was using those corpses anyway.

That and there isn't really any combination of ethics or civics that would most obviously disapprove of reanimating dead sapient life to create new life, since the best potential candidates of Spiritualism, Egalitarianism, and Xenophilia do not inherently imply a distaste for it and, in fact, are each vague enough to support that practice with little need to bend meanings

Wiki says they're compatible. It's pretty neat - being a necrophage is an origin, not a civic, so you can kinda go wild with it.

[edit] Addendum to necrophage mechanics - you also get a purge type which turns undesireables into your primary species, so you can pretty much steal all the aliens you want and turn'em into yourself.

Necroids are essentially zombie races - they grow by "consuming the dead of other species", whether by force or not. Mechanically it gives them some bonuses (including massively increased leader lifespan) but a big penalty to species growth and access to a job which converts the worker pop to the main species after ten years.

we cannot "return to normal" in a country of rampant, state-sponsored extrajudicial murders, migrant concentration camps, foreign meddling, mass poverty, and unguaranteed universal human rights. this next four years must be better than "normal" or biden might not have been elected in the first place for all the good it will do.

and, quite frankly, anyone who was willing to spend the last four years supporting a radical christian, anti-lgbt, white supremacist, american exceptionalist piece of garbage like trump is not worth having any sort of unity with. why should anyone deign to treat them with acceptance and kindness when they refuse to give any of the same to so many people in this country and the world? why is it that the left must always take the high road in the face of utter, unending intolerance from the right?

usually they didn’t help sink the ship in the first place

And what about when someone else's vices end up on your doorstep? Corrodes your neighborhood?

If crack heads and meth and heroin addicts by and large could hold down jobs, own houses, have money and do drugs in the privacy of their own home....then a lot fewer people would be bothered by the idea. But that's not how it is, is it? It ends up in the streets, where you see it, where you have to stare at it, walk around it, tell your kids not to look at it or think about it.

wow, this is some quality "i don't think drug addicts are humans who deserve basic human decency" right here

like, seriously, you can stop putting up a front at this point. "i think drug addicts are subhumans" would save you so much time typing and the rest of us so much time reading that doesn't need to be spent

well ideally we need to fix the problems that drive people to take hard drugs in the first place so they don't feel like their lives are so shitty that they need to be on drugs to cope, but when you go and paint even some addicts as nothing but violent and remorseless criminals it gets harder and harder for anyone to give enough of a shit for these things to happen

plus, you know, both the democratic and the republican parties actively suppress welfare, job security, insurance, and all manner of things that would go towards helping prevent addictions from forming in the first place, but that's a different conversation

nah, people so consumed by addiction that they're driven to theft to buy more drugs are actually violent criminals who enjoy stealing, and destigmatizing addiction just means they'll steal more because ??

then they were probably pieces of shit before they became addicted to something, not because of it, but - newsflash! - even people who are still pieces of shit are people. you don't get to decide that everyone who's addicted to drugs should be treated like criminals just because there are some who are shitty. human decency isn't conditional and it's really, really weird to me that you want to insist it should be
