i once caught a dwarf 'goblin' cross bowman [who came from my fort].. he died of dehydration in the cage. as far as i know, no negative thoughts...

Ok, quick question. In the world map screen, if i have 2 land masses like so:
 ~ L  L L L  ~
 ~ ~ L L ~  ~
 ~ ~ L ~ ~ ~
 ~ ~ ~ L L  ~
 ~ ~ ~ L L  L

Key: ~ is water
         L is land

(assuming they are not connected anywhere else) Are these land masses connected? Could an adventurer walk across? Could an invading civ cross that?

Is this considered an island then?

Well, about the building a wall on the wrong side, you can just designate a wall, and then on whichever side you dont want the dwarf to be on when its complete, you designate another wall on that side, but then suspend it. Dwarves wont build on suspended construction sites. When its all done you just cancel the suspended wall to be built.

My really moment(s), when i first started playing Df, i didn't install the game properly (i think didn't unpack it to the right place or whatever), so it didn't end up saving any of my forts... i played 3 forts before i realised this...

Well for me, i just made the ENTIRE map my fortress, i built a giant wall around the edges (out of gold for good measure), then made some brigdes (out of gold for 'Golden Gate Brigdes' hurhur). So now, everytime a kobold is detect, none manage to leave the map! NONE SHALL SURVIVE!

DF Gameplay Questions / Demolishing a Necromancer tower

Ok, i was playing around with 'embark anywhere' and embarked onto a necromancer tower. As soon as i got there, i forbid the doors to stop the zobos from heading out and killing everything. Then i channeled around the tower and dug under it. CRASH. The whole tower disintegrates, and everything living or unliving  dies. In the ruins are a bunch of artifacts and 'The Secrets to Life and Death'. Can i like teach my whole fort into being necromancers now. Or is it just a pretty decoration, the object is listed as a furnuture item (slab)

Also another, when i abandon the fort, and say i embark next to the ex-necromancer tower will i still get attacks or 'sieged' by legions of the undead?

Anyone know about it?

so wait about dfhack, when I'm on the world map embark, i just type "embark" in the dfhack, and i can embark ANYWHERE!?!!?

Quick question. Is it possible to embark with a necromancer tower on the map? Or maybe a tomb or anything really. Anything other than just the natural environment

Also, when you start, there is this 'map' that you can just tab away... but honestly do any of you guys find it useful? Am i missing out on using a good tool? Every time i look at it  i makes absolutely no sense as to structures or rivers and stuff. What is it meant to show? I have noticed these red patches on it.

What about making it so that if a hand or whatever is freshly cut off from a sentient creature of the same size e.g. gobos or other dwarfs, before the freshly cut rots, the medical dwarf can re-attach the live limb onto the limbless dwarf. Imagine: One hand dwarf, the other hand goblin.

Well about the hatch cover, when i put hatch covers on the pit, the dwarves would just dump the stuff ON TOP of the hatch, so it would just sit there and not go into the pit. The bridge is fine, the animals i need to 'dump' are pastured though so I'm wondering maybe they can't drag the animal out of its pasture.. I'm not sure though
