Given my multiple uses of caves, i don't trust them.  So i tried to make sure only floors connected to nothing would remain.  Hence all the pillars and the bridges.  The bridges also serve to block off sections once full.

Worst case, the pillars and mechanisms just add value to the fort.

I would say keep each sqaud to one weapon type, unless there are no undead.  Then pick something by fiat.  I recommended axes and hammers because of the way damage types affect undead and to monimize extra parts.  If that is not a concern, spears and swords might work well against FBs and Titans.  Although i do love me some hammer and axe squads.

No worries.  A quick bridge and some walls have closed things off.  I almost (but didn't) flooded the forges with magma, and i did flood another save over the weekend, so we all make oversights.

Good luck with everything.  Don't worry about the game, it's just a game.  I hope things calm down for you.

How goes the turn?

I made it into summer, and things seem to be progressing well, if a bit boring.  A few minor fun things happened, but I'm saving everything up for updates I can write while traveling.

Happiness and Sadness:  I got a Das Keyboard today, but most of my write up will happen on my Macbook Air.  Stupid chicklet keys.  I strongly recommend the Das Keyboard.  It is joyously fun to use.  Also, Airs cannot run DF at all well, in case any of you were wondering.

Quick check of the trap room works as follows:

Assuming no one has built more supports (That may be a big if), just see if the lever in the back room above the traps can link to any more supports.  If the answer is yes, link them.  If no supports show up, then everything is already linked.  When I passed the turn on, I only had a few to go.  The bridges, however, may need linking.  Depends on how much you care about dead dwarves.

As for the artifact mechanism, I'd put it somewhere in the dining hall where every dwarf will walk by it and get happy thoughts.  That and the artifact door I put in the entry to the dining hall (assuming it is still there) should help alleviate any bad thoughts your dorfs are having.

There is a well, but it actually leaves the cavern wide open.  I'm trying to seal off the remaining openings (the stairs that open into the top of the cavern and the well) so that we don't get random FBs coming to check out our massive stairwells, and the tasty dwarves that use them.  I also like having wells very close to the hospital, and have a rather OCD well format that usually ensures no cancelled "give drink" tasks.

Well, I've started.  If you guys are ok with the turn going through the beginning of next week, I'll keep going.

I'm through the beginning of spring, reorganized the labors, started digging out a proper well for the hospital and found a combination of lava and some shiny, light blue stuff by the forges.

Also, what happened to the titan corpse?  Did you butcher it?  Because I was going to cut that up for meat, but all that is left is a rotten foot, and I see no titan bits in the stocks.

Meph, I'll probably try to start writing my turn up while flying around the country later this week.  Too much to do right now.  But in the meantime, I'll post some picks for you.

I still have my save, just have not had time or the desire to try and click through cancellation spam.  SPent three nights on it already.

If you want to try a round two, I am game, but I won't be able to do much for a week at least.  I already have one save to handle over the holiday weekend.  And by handle I mean ignore, as I have no computer coming with me that can play DF in a reasonable way.

342
Huh.  I was not expecting you to finish the turn in 12 hours :).  I'll try an get started, but i will be gone Thursday - Sunday, so it'll likely take me a bit into next week, given my schedule with work.

344
Thanks 4maskwolf!

I am a little unsure of who is supposed to play next - Woob or me.  I volunteered to push my turn back due to travel next week but the main post has me listed before Woob.

Woob, are you ok with picking up the turn?  I can take it, but if I do you guys need to know I won't be able to finish before Wednesday and then I'll be gone until December, essentially.  If I start the turn now it'll probably take me two weeks to do it.  I also have a write up for another turn I need to pass on.
