At this point, United States, Great Britain, France, Germany and other countries of the Western world think that they are the most righteous countries in the world and that they are morally and ideologically superior to the rest of the world. No one did grant the Western world the title of paragon of virtue and the right to enforce their own political ideologies and morals around the world. Such a claim is backed solely by the military and economic power of Western countries. As the saying goes, "Might makes right".

In my opinion, however, if Russia or other country had a similarly powerful economy and military force, they would definitely proclaim themselves the most righteous countries in the world and then haughtily asserted about how virtuous they are, how awful is the life in Britain or America and how all the British or American rulers that opposed them in the past or oppose them at the moment are the scum of the earth... all the while covering up their own skeletons in their closets.

The Russian economy and military seems to be getting stronger then:

On EU level my best match (67%) was a Slovakian far-right party :(

The Social attitude test (Shouldn't these tests be put on the first post? Took some time to dig up.)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I guess it's quite ok, though I don't think I have a problem with religion, and I have no clue how to interpret that I'm a considerate radical centrist with few strong convictions.
Sounds like a bunch of conflicting stuff.

Hammer apparently, because dwarves use it in their justice system.

I heard that hammers are used in the justice system of the USA too.

[...]reputations in general (which won't always be heroic now[...]
I assume that reputation will now be either positive or negative. But is anything beyond that planned (at some faraway point in the future)? For example how much you fail or succeed in quests, how many of your followers usually survive, or how many hostile creatures you kill on your quests. So, for example, you could be known as someone who always finishes even the hardest quests, but followers never return alive; meaning you can only get suicidal or confident followers, but almost every entity would entrust you with their problems. Or your reputation portrays you as someone that usually has to retreat from battles and never takes risks, but has a loyal group of followers whose safety is of utmost importance (so, everyone would follow you, but you'll get barely any quests).

Why won't you get quests if you are overly cautious? I mean it's not like they are paying in advance, they are not even paying after you have done the quest, so why would they care if you loiter around the dragon's lair for a month then pack up?
Plus a lord or some other head honcho might think it's not worth it to send someone who while does the deed  but at too much cost of lives, so he might rather send someone who brings home the men and women.

It seems to me that in most games devs are pretty careful about the time it takes to implement a feature and its gameplay value, so they chop off bits here and there if they can speed up implementation while keeping most of the gameplay value.
Now the B12 development process is as I see it,  trying to bring out as much out of a feature as possible, and not caring about the time it takes.

So I think what you are seeing is that attention to detail adds up in then end.

How will this poll lay the question to rest?

I think he might be talking about inheritance, though it's certainly more than just inheritance, I'm not exactly sure what things other than inheritance (which is in the next version I believe) he is talking about though.

My bet is on 'I am the son of the deposed king, help me get my throne back.' type of stuff.

Also to all the pessimists out there, who think the release will be in December, keep in mind that Toady has a beard now, so the development cycle will be much faster.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Force dwarf child to harvest
« on: October 27, 2013, 06:19:34 am »
Are they forbidden?

No.

any problems with stockpile links? the child should be able to harvest. Are there other jobs to distract him?

There are no links to or from the stockpile, I have just set up a new one for him. He's just loitering around his burrow.

Is it possible that the crops are withered but the game still calls them as if they were normal?

Edit:
End of story :(
He started starving and decided he wants to get food from the troll infested levels even though I forbade everything there. At the end a ghost possessed him and he charged in to a group of trolls.

Did it that way but I had multiple stockpiles and renegade barrels here and there so it was tedious hunting them down from the stocks screen.

DF Gameplay Questions / Force dwarf child to harvest

Once again it's me :)  with drink taken care of ( http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=132455.0 )  the dwarf child is hungry now.

The situation: He's the only citizen of my fort, there are grown plump helmets on the fields, I have set up a stockpile and turned on the 'all dwarves harvest' order, I have some free barrels, but he won't harvest the plump helmets, I also made a food stockpile for him. He's in a civilian burrow, covering the aforementioned places, he's not trying to take food from outside his burrow (there's no cancellation spam).

I can't get food from other places because there are trolls around. So I'd like to make sure he doesn't die of starvation.

It was tiresome but forbidding did the trick, next time maybe I will have a central booze stockpile, though kept the alert in place so he doesn't wander off.
