I think it's just because he hasn't gotten around to doing much work with groups like families yet. I think that will be part of the religions and guilds updates.

I believe that the eventual plan is to stop generating adventurers altogether and allow you to play as different historical figures. Instead of creating a parentless, history-less demigod from thin air and recruiting Cacame as him, you can just begin as Cacame.

It might be overly literal, but I don't recall any culture that practiced it seeing it as anything wrong or abnormal. Hence, you know, allowing it to begin with.

Masterwork mod had concubines, but cut later on Toady's request, so I think it's highly unlikely they'll ever be added.

Really? Seems weird that Toady would interfere with a mod, so [citation needed], if you could.
Maybe Toady plays Masterwork? Oh great Toady, which mods do you use when you're just playing for fun?

Has anyone tried going in as a necromancer? Zombie angels sound like good allies. :)

Cool! I'll replace mine with it on DFFD if you don't mind. I think mine is why it didn't work for me for whatever reason. :)

I remember Toady saying once (I think in a DF talk but I'm not sure) that goblins are basically just sociopaths. They don't have a conscience or sense of altruism. If I'm not totally misremembering that, then that's no reason they wouldn't even be capable of playing nice with other races. They would just lack the capability to understand why they shouldn't betray their friends if doing so is to their ultimate advantage. I could see a goblin companion leading you into an ambush if he wanted that vault slab with his civ leader's true name on it for himself, but I couldn't see him leading you out into the haunted tundra and randomly slitting your throat while you sleep and lighting your companions on fire just for teh evils. He wouldn't get anything out of it and would lose the protection of the demigod who curb stomps dragons for looking at him funny. It's just not something a real sociopath would do, you know?

I've seen reference to randomly generated weapons in a couple of the vault threads. Does anyone know if they're only spawned in the vaults? When I first read about them, I was kind of hoping that they could be used by normal races too. It might be interesting to see if they could be modded to be culture specific.

It took about thirteen hours of constant work and some moderate neck pain, but I finally finished alphabetizing the language_words file by hand. I'm planning to use it in a language overhaul mod, but i can upload it to DFFD if anyone wants it for any reason. I haven't changed anything but the order. I'll be doing the racial language files next if anyone's interested (or wants to help in any way).
