"Maybe the boss won't be so terrible after all those ice poni- TWO OF THEM?!"

Dark Souls 2, The Ivory King DLC.

Brits try to identify US states

Americans try to identify countries in Europe
The really sad thing is that for all my posturing, I wouldn't be any better than either of them.

Oh man, all of the people got Texas right, even the guy who put in "Lots of racism" in there.

Don't really have a bittersweet thread, so I suppose this goes here.  I should be getting done with college in this town in less than two weeks (including the graduation ceremony), and I won't see most of the guys here unless there happens to be extenuating circumstances.  This includes a teacher/mentor that I've come to be really good friends with.  He's also not going to be working here after this semester, so it's even stranger.

His last class all had a sit-down meeting that started about two hours ago and I got to go and hang out with them for that time.  It was good being able to say goodbye.  Hope I see them around.

Well if someone doesn't actually press that as a homicide case then something is fundamentally wrong with the Justice system in New York.  The autopsy reported it a homicide, choke-holds are actually against the departments' list of approved take-down methods, and we actually have video of it happening.  The cop who initiated the choke-hold at the very least could be tried for homicide, especially after they had him down on the ground.

Not sure how 12 people saw that as unable to be tried.

I was curious about that one.  I wonder what the jury was polling at, because that case seems pretty closed book.

On the American app market alone there's like 4 "flashlight" apps that send off data about you back to their creators.

See stuff like this here is why I'm scared of my phone.
Just treat it like you would a computer (because it is).  Get anti-virus, encryption, don't download crap that you don't need, and just generally be safe with it.  Use common sense whilst browsing the internet; if something seems fishy, it probably is.

I bought Dark Souls 1 while it was on sale on steam, even got a usb xbox controller to play it with, but I'm still not sure if I made a correct decision here. Maybe I should still hold out til DS 2 is on sale...

Naaaahhhh.  Dark Souls 1 was great.  Both are standalone.  Ye did a good thing.

Mother clicked an unverified link that was sent via SMS to her, installed the app, then ran it.

The app proceeded to hijack her kakao talk messenger app (which is used by nearly all people in Korea), change the password and email, then sent messages to her friends and relatives talking about how she urgently needed $1000 or so, would you please send it to <bank account provided>. She didn't know until a friend asked her why she needed $1000 by phone; if the friend had asked by Kakaotalk, she might have been swindled by the conman sitting on the other side.

@.@ I never knew you could hijack another app...

So continues the trend of technologically impaired old people mucking up their devices with something that could have easily been avoided.
Nah, there's a bunch of apps out there right now that, once you download them, will just wreak havoc with your phone.  People hide tons of code in those things because no one ever bothers to open them up and find out what makes them tick.  This one that Skyrunner's mom downloaded was just slightly more malicious than others.

On the American app market alone there's like 4 "flashlight" apps that send off data about you back to their creators.  It only takes a couple of kilobytes (90 KB from what I heard) to make a flashlight app, and a couple of those are around 2-3 MBs.  Data about consumers is currently the best product that app producers can generate, some people like to skip the middleman though and try to extort their customer database.  It usually lands them behind bars somewhere.

FAKEEDIT:  WHY AM I ALWAYS THE FIRST POST ON A PAGE!?  AGH.

Well that sort of puts a damper on everything, I suppose.  Not even sure if they have mobile support.

Very well, carry on.

Dammit Google search, why can't you tell exactly what I want in the first hour?  You're supposed to be the good search engine!  Even though you data mine everything we do.

Shots fired in front of the fire department and apparently a journalist hit in the head with a brick.

Well this is turning out to be a fun night.

Descan, you're very bad at being gay.

Congrats and good luck nevertheless.

But good at being bi~

He at least seems to be good at getting dates.  Good luck with it, Descan.
