At the time, I think they had two battalions versus our five or six. We don't have any knowledge of tactics, though, which may result in us losing most of our forces if we try to attack them. You know what, change my vote to "throw money at it".

Have the unicorns execute him by running him through with their horns. We don't have any conversation or royal demeanor abilities to allow us to intimidate or bluff him (we'd probably need foreign intelligence too to do so properly anyway) and offering him money probably means an accountancy check. Let's go for the murder here. Surrendering probably just speeds up our own murder.

EDIT: Okay, I had completely forgotten what was going on with Ixion, and I think offering them money might be useful to discover what's really going on with Ixion (if it's actually theirs for a good reason). Their reactions could tell us a lot. What do you guys think? For now, I'm keeping my vote for the unicorn mudersquad.

General Discussion / The Bay 12 Superhero project
« on: May 21, 2015, 01:11:02 pm »
As the title implies, the goal is to come up with a superhero or supervillain that represents the Bay12 community. First, of course, we need to determine a theme. The entry period for this part of the project ends on June 9th or when get 20 unique concepts, whichever happens first. Once this phase is over, I'll add a poll to the topic so it can be voted upon. First list the basic theme, then some associated concepts. Here's my suggestion:

The Kea
Insane, murderous, thieving
(concept inspired by a parody of the Falcon and based on the fact that keas have been known to eat the backs of sheep while the sheep are still alive)

I think it's worth pointing out that your dwarves can kill ghosts. I suggest putting the weretapir (the only known instance of a tapir escaping it's containment resulted in it tearing off an arm as far as I know) and the vampire into a squad of their own and having them train.

I think this is one of those times when using DFHack or similar is acceptable, if only to find the goddamn necro.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: You have found..

Believe me, my laptop, which lags when dealing with GIFs, can handle world generation, at least if I make a pocket world. It even runs the full arena with 200 creatures fighting all at once, so you should definitely be capable of having a 1x1 format fort in a pocket world. Just avoid the more ambitious megaprojects (stuff with lots of fluids) and you should be fine.

Luckily, demons can't be reanimated. But really, just flood the map with lava and it'll kill the necro if he's on the surface. Then you can route out anything left underground by using lots and lots of water to flood them off the map.

Congrats! I'm thinking of studying electrical engineering next year, in fact.

Well, Axespendable managed to pass strategy skill checks, let me tell you that.

Or a magma-propelled aircraft or spacecraft.

Ok, so if we add an extra six months to the deadline, could you create an amphibious magma-propelled ATV? Preferably one with a ramjet attached.
You do realize that ramjets can only be used in very, very fast aircraft, right?
They don't use mechanical components. Because at the speeds ramjets are well-suited for, mechanical components are another liability.

OK, done with the engineering complaint.
How do you make something that runs on MAGMA? Not in DF, of course. In DF, everything runs on either water power, magma power, or beard/alchohol power. The last two are pretty much the same thing.
Simple, you fill a tank with magma after coating the insides of the tank with thermoelectric materials.

Let me tell you, by the time we get to Zealodie, we'll either be passing every skillcheck or screwing up as badly as we are now, because, you know, everyone wants to follow a different plan.

The exciting new version of this total dwarfshit is that dwarves are now falling through a solid wall and ceiling into the mote that's supposed to keep them from jumping to their deaths.  This isn't even the part with fortifications, they are literally just falling through solid matter into a drowny death.  FUUUUUUUUUUUUU
How the fuck do you jump through a ceiling? You can't even jump up in DF.

You know, necromancers can stealth, that may be why you didn't see any necromancers who could have raised the cyclops.
