"Tsk. Unexpected. If this continues, we might want to choose a battleground. But for now - qickly, to deeper levels. I still have much to test in Guardian patterns."

Move onto deeper levels. If any new Guardian appear near us - stop and analyze situation.

Is that true? For some reason I kinda figured I would have to start from rank 0 like everyone else.
Er... Squelchy (stage 2) is here, Ulkas (stage 5) is here, even Gray (stage 3) came later?  ???

Hm... Wasn't you the Bone Baron already? You CAN port characters between games, you know? Just some fine tuning of skills and traits - and you'd be good to go.

So, the Tower lives on? It's good to hear, I really liked to wander its halls. I'm still pretty embarrassed that after all discussions before it's creation, I was not able to participate, distracted by rl  :)

Heh, I knew there was more for the minions to be discovered. DG, you should probably add shard-based minion improvement as well as possibility to change them via affinity (with things potentially going horrifically right or awesomely bad). You may also want to add rituals (in some form).

Also, what happened to my demonic minion after Duck Island? Has he survived transition and did he actually heard Kahel dissmissing him?

I'm quite a bit disappointed that since around second third of the game many juicy schemes and plots started to happen completely offscreen, without any hints on what is going on. It somewhat took out enjoyment in reading what others were doing to further their ambitions, catching small hints and taking wild guesses.

"Well, now we know that some interesting artifact remain and that guardian does react to mana usage. We can probably test some more, but let's haste to other places before other guardians appear."

Turn off personal forcefield & haste to next place of interest.

+ If my illusions do not require sustenance - create passable illusion of a glove taken at the same place, so as to test guardian a bit.

"Hm... No, not really. For now at least. I think we should proceed for now, as we can't be sure to disable this guardian without others knowing. And I'm not keen on starting a lengthy battle even without getting to the artifacts first."

See if we can reach something interesting before more guardians appear.

((Got distracted a bit.))

Ulkas hummed while browsing their options.

"Guardians? Well, not exactly same, of course, but of similar configuration and purpose. Possibly, local ones reacted to the movement of the platform before. We should check if they are actually tracking us. Let's prepare ambush and see."

Backtrack a bit and choose such place as not to be on direct route to the platform and impossible to be seen unless magically pursued. If all goes well - observe. If guardian attacks - try controlling it, if unsuccessful - engage in battle with illusions and Astrosa fast brutality.

Nakéen is very kind GM. Just check first game casualties - just 7-8 from total 31 monsters (8 inactive) during ~1 year of active play (around 100 turns and subturns).

Although I do hope there would be more deaths in near future.
I would like to get back in so I agree with you
[As the guy who is generally screwed by dice and when having died, died again after 4 rounds in the previous game, I disagree.]
Well, you actually was able to come back with same char (only to die again)? Nakéen is kind. Only dice are merciless.

I keep waiting for explosions of corpses and being surprised when this does not happen, although pleasantly surprised.
Yeah the only person who has died was the one who rolled three 1's in a row

Ulkas couldn't help but yawn happily. So much useful information! He was akin to a weary traveler gorging himself on delicious fresh water found in the oasis, forgoing caution and reason. So many possibilities are open here...
"Astrosa, seems like we are in luck! These ruins were once a research or military facility used by an advanced civilization. Human expedition that worked here unearthed only a small portion of this treasure trove, before they - by some mishap or devious trap placed by creators - activated ancient guardians. Now, these ruins are 'alive' and slowly repairing themselves. Which can open for us many previously-sealed doors, but we must pass their guardians first. And they are using advanced fire-based weapons to shoot superheated beams and can use some other forms of long-lost magic. Interesting enemy. And a dangerous one."

Demon chuckled, and, waving off the haze of sleepiness, continued:
"Considering how long these ruins stood motionless, their guardians must have answered only due to some serious transgression by humans. If my analysis is right, there are two most probable reactions. Either they now try to kill every being in sight, or they ask for their identities first. I once encountered similar guardian, though far less advanced, and was able to pass off as "authorized person". I'll try to use this experience here but have no guarantee it is even possible.

Continue exploration, using maps from my head and journal to search for some of the artifacts. If guardians interfere and don't communicate - try the same method that worked on Guardian of Valern Castle. With more power, obviously.

Wait, what happened to fluorine?
Nothing. Fluorine (AbstracTraitorHero) and Eron (OceanSoul) simply did not post their actions  ::)

"Heh. Not all were able to flee, it seems... Or just this one went here? Let's see..."

Study human corpse and its notes, using Expansive Mind if needed. Also see if I can slowly clear up confused mental map.
