How about taking this game a bis serious now.

We're in an unknown forest, right? This is obviously bad, since we don't really know the parameters.
Also, we are alone, which is even worse, since we are easy prey right in the moment.

The plan would finding known territory and other individuals of our species.
But first, we need an ovierview.

So, look for a tree, which is tall enough to break the    forest canopy and climb him.
