Hi,

I have such problem.

I have made a well over channel with water [7/7], around the well there is zone with water, but my dwarfs says they are annoyed after drinking without a well. So what is wrong?

Manual says:

If a well is working properly, meaning it has direct access to water, it will display "active" when examined with q. If there is something obstructing the well, or there is not enough water, it will display "dry".

But when I trying to exam with q I have only an option to make a meeting hall...

I assume you assured that there is no other water source they head to for drinking?

You should not need to zone for water around the well.  The well, if it is functioning, will zone itself.

Can you upload a save so I can see what you've built?

I have made another well on the same blueprint and now looks everything is fine.

Daris, you said I do not need a water zone for well for working. Does it well works if I do not make a meeting area around it?

You don't need a meeting area either.

Just to note only one dwarf can use a well at a time. So if you have lots of thirsty dwarves some of them will still head to other water sources if the well is busy. The bad thought should be read as, Not enough wells.

And dwarves drinking water without being hospitalized should really be interpreted as "not enough booze"...
