No subterranean plants
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:54:44 pm »

Typically I construct my pastures on the top level of soil in my fortress, however in the new version moss/grass/shrubs/trees aren't growing.  The soil is silty-clay and Sandy-Loam, but no plants so far?

You breached a cavern layer with plants yet?

It is. By breaching the cavern layers, the 'spores' underground will spread and make underground trees grow everywhere subterranean.

I'm having a lot of difficulty finding underground caverns, it 2010 I would breach them almost from the start.  Now I'm conducting exploratory mining and still can't find them.

Pretty sure that's just a quirk of your map/embark site. I've played a couple of embarks on 34.01 with cavern systems identical to DF2010.

And yeah, floor fungus, etc. doesn't start growing until you breach the first cavern layer. This was always the case in DF2010.
