DF 2012v0.34 question and answer thread

Garath:
probably also influences chance of infection

Grumbledwarfskin:
Susceptibility to disease has a lot to do with how much they'll suffer if they get a disease as well. Some will die of blood loss due to infection, others will recover if they get an infection.

I'm not sure whether it impacts the chances of getting a syndrome, my impression was that syndromes have a 100% catch rate for those exposed, but the resistant probably recover more quickly if the syndrome isn't permanent or terminal.

NTJedi:

--- End quote ---

That's a very good question and something for us to be concerned.

Garath:
I edited the raws for dwarfs to have actual cities and hamlets and also removed the EXOTIC tags from pretty much all animals. Now I'm being offered a whole range of creatures I never saw before when I last did that. Is it because I was lazy and automatically replaced _EXOTIC with " " and it also took the mount exotic tag away?

edit:
will elves bring me tame dragons now?

Garath:
unrelated question:

sometimes I had new animal groups stop because one or more of the previous wave hadn't quit the map yet. How does that work with Giant sponges, they never leave. Will I see an end to new wildlife because the sponge is still there? I've seen some posts and they seem very hard to kill, lacking blood, internal organs and a nervous system. Only way is to obsidianize? Controlled collapse?
