Where do I find the mountainhalls?
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:45:45 pm »

I've traveled where it says that I'm right near the mountainhall, but I can't find anything. Where do you find them?

No towns/halls etc actually exist for any civilizations except humans yet.  You currently won't find anything (other than maybe a few of the appropriate NPCs wandering around?) at elf, dwarf, or goblin sites.  You definitely cannot trade with the dwarves and buy their awesome weapons and armor, which is presumably what you want to do.

The only (non-modding) way to get dwarven quality armor in adventure mode is to build a fortress, make lots of nice stuff, and then come back as an adventurer to grab the loot.

If building a fortress for your adventurers is too much work or feels too cheaty, you can also take a look around in lairs in or around dwarven (or goblin?) territories. You'll often find armor belonging to dwarven victims of the occupants there. You can eventually find yourself a full suit of bronze or steel armor, though sadly nothing close to the quality you can make at a fortress of your own.

actually, there USED to be dwarven forts, wich would basicly be square holes in the ground whit a spiral staircase around them and halls extending from the sides, but they didnt have shops tough.
Its too bad.
If i remember elves do have sites, but on those are nothing but some named trees.

This is particularly damning for me at the moment, as I have two tasks to kill two vampires that are living in a mountainhome.

Woo.

You can find some dwarf-crafted weapons and armor in lairs near dwarven civilizations, only way to get steel weapons or armor without raiding your abandoned forts i know of.

Yeah - the next thing that adventure mode really needs is dwarven (and elven) civs to provide a healthy supply of armor for adventurers.

you can edit the entity raws to make dwarfs and others build cities instead of whatever they have now

So, in these overground cities (after you have altered the raws) what will you find in their shops?
Human sized armor? Or will they really create dwarf sized armor/clothes?

(would be a big incentive to alter elven/dwarven civs accordingly, if they afterwards in their cities really offer stuff for elves/dwarves to wear :) )

Mountainhomes and elven settlements aren't added by Toady yet.

The best thing you can do (and what I'm currently doing right now), is to edit your game and make dwarves, elves and goblins create normal cities and forts instead. It makes the world more interesting and gives you more targets to kill  :P

You can also spice up the civilizations by making each race a baby-snatcher.

since you won't find the good stuff in shops: the keeps and catacombs of towns will have mostly dwarfs sized armor. Often some steel even
