Noob to adventure mode. Is it possible to cook meat?
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:10:56 am »

I tried dropping a piece of meat on a campfire, but that's probably stretching the limits of DF reality.

You wouldn't need to, its completely possible to butcher something and eat it raw. Also, don't pick up the meat, pick up organs. They're lighter, even lighter than prickleberries.

Think of the df adventurer as a hardcore Bear Grylls.

You can use to heat the meat on a campfire while standing next to one, but I don't think it does anything. Right now all campfires do is give a way to melt ice to get drinkable water.

Campfires should also encrease your nightvision somehow when you were standing next to it.

I think you might need to spend some time next to a campfire on a normal night. It makes your nightvision utterly useless.

Ignoring the glare, campfires really don't give off that much light anyways ;)

I have camped out in the dark, i tell you, campfires really fuck up your vision, if you want improved night vision, go out in the dark and get used to the light levels.
I believe however, that it should depend on your area, if you are in sand or snow, or just in some muddy stuff, and moon phase, in full moon in a white sand desert or in a blizzard, it should be light enough to read a book.
