necromancer hiding
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:58:34 pm »

I'm being besiged by necromancers, but they hide, and I only know they're there because they keep on reanimating corpses.
How should I find them?

Quote from: Malarauko
I had an above ground garden built in the grounds of my castle and two young dwarves spent time socialising there over the summer and at the end of the summer they were in love. Remember those long summers of your childhood? That first kiss in the gardens while crossbows dwarves shoot goblins above your head? The rain of dead birds as the hunters get to work? Truly Spearhills is a paradise.

Are you sure it's necromancers resurrecting the corpses?

this occurred   in my fort.  Everything out side the for started raising causing all sorts of FUN for a dwarf caravan. Next thing i know i have got 2 human Necromancers in my cage traps inside my fort. They went past my  guard dogs and almost made it to my refuge pile.

So now I am deciding what i should do with 2 necromancers 1 vampire and 40 children.

Any ideas?

Lock them into a room at the bottom of your fortress. Drop all corpses of anything down in the necro-pit. Hook up the entrance of this place to a lever.

Instant zombie apocalypse lever.

And yes, if you have to ask why one would create such a thing, you're missing the point.

I HATE YOU SOOOOO BAD! I've been trying to get those exact circumstances. You need to make a well of unlife to turn all your dorves into vampires, I haven't heard of it tried with necromancer raised corpses but the undead show vampires professional courtesy. You can create a fortress of vampires defended by an army of the undead.

If all your dwarfs are vampires, do you lose?

People are reporting that they don't but I haven't personally done it yet. (Vampires are avoiding me, I think someone told them about Realmclasps.)

You do lose. Someone embarked with 7 undead dwarves and the fort instantly crumbled.

You need to get that vampire to stand in a 1x1 room with a lever operated repeating spike, kill the vampire and fill the room with water from above. Build a well over the whole mess and if it's done right the result should be buckets of water contaminated with vampire blood.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

I don't think that's possible. If I recall none of the starting dwarfs can be vampires.

Doesn't the well clean the water of all contaminates though?
