creature symbol question
« on: February 24, 2012, 09:12:35 pm »

I know how to change what symbol is displayed for a creature.  And I know how to change it's color.  But how can you make it flash, like legendaries do?  And any other graphical tricks.

That'd be really nice if we could do that, but I'm not sure if there's a token for color flashing. If there were, I would have super saiyans flash yellow.

I suspect it's hardcoded for legendaries and semi- and megabeasts.  But I don't know so I asked.  I looked in the minotaur raw and saw nothing there.  But I can always hope.

Any other tricks I can do to make a specific creature look interesting?

Does [FLASHING] do anything?

ALTTILE allows you to specify a second tile for the creature - it'll blink between the main and alt tiles periodically. Obviously, if something along the lines of ALT_COLOR existed, we'd be able to spoof the flash effect, but it doesn't. Anyway, proper abuse of ALTTILE will let you make things semi-invisible and such.

GLOWTILE and GLOWCOLOR let you specify a tile used by the creature when it's out of your sight range. The vanilla game uses on goblins and kobolds, most notably.
