Thanks for the help. Sadly, I have an 7x7 plot growing plump helmets with a very skilled grower- and over 200 prepared meals! I have lots of seeds other then Plump Helmets, but I'm not growing them until I'm skilled at making people eat Plump Helmets. Or prepared meals in general.

Here are some more images of my food setup:

  :)

Also - I have them cook alcohaul because err....well, the other posts I saw said that brewing plants into alcohaul before eating it would increase my foodstores by 5x. And, indeed- I do have 200 some prepared meals!

Maybe you should check your prepared meals ... if they all use those new, modded-in plants, maybe there'a a token missing somewhere?

To see if that mod is the problem, you could try this: (z) (Kitchen) and allow only Plump Helmet to be cooked. Set the kitchen on repeat and see if they'll eat Plump Helmet Cookies/Stew/Roast.

Also, you have your Accountant set so you don' see your exact stocks. Go to [n] Nobles, check out the one where you can change the setting, and put him on high accuracy. (That dwarf needs an office - a room with a table.) If you never gave your accountant an office, the estimate of how much food you have may be way off.

Also your food stockpile looks like it's, erm, in the Pampas. In the middle of nowhere. A long way from where all your dwarves usually are ... maybe add some more small food stockpiles set to [t]take from the large one near your kitchen.

The problem is solved, though I have no idea what the problem /was/. I've just seen several dwarves interrupt tasks to eat, and I have no idea what I did to change it, but I'm going to keep an eye on them.

Also, sadly enough - that is in fact the main hall of my fortress; which contains my farm (just to the right of the stockpile) - and then some more specialized stockpiles for specific food types to the north, a dining room just to the east, and some stone workshops.

I sold off my axes when preparing, not realizing I needed them to cut trees (doh) - and don't have an anvil, so all I have with me is what I grow, and cut from raw stone with my own dwarven hands.

Basically: The stockpile looks like the boonies because my /fortress/ --IS-- the boonies.

Edit:

This is strange though. Take a look -

The trader had /no/ items!

Is this cased by a bad depot location?

Probably the same mod which added in the Ant Queens, sadly. The prehistoric one worked fine, but /I/ found an error in the Age of Shadows one, and I've only been playing this game a few days. I'm a bit loathe to uninstall it though because it has a number of custom additions to the game - such as training hunting/war animals, and (more specifically) //Great Old Ones// as a possible Megabeast. Really, thats actually what I downloaded the mod for. I'm a huge Lovecraft fan.
