How to brew an item from a creature?
« on: March 07, 2012, 11:40:03 pm »

Well, I've been customizing my game, creating three basic types of caverns (1st is the regular cave from all default stuff, 2nd is a bog-like area underground, and the 3rd is a very crystal/light based cavern system.) about the 2nd cavern, I'm creating a creature that I'm calling a moss bear, which is a bear that has moss growing on it.

To the subject, is it possible to Shear this bear (the moss from it) and proceed to brew said moss? Or is that just not possible? I'd like to know if it isn't too much trouble, and could you also give the raw for what it would look like and where to put it if that isn't trouble as well?

Not capable of making the reaction myself, but a custom reaction can turn just about anything into booze, just find a example of someone modding in a booze type, replace reagent A with your bears moss, and boom, awesome bear brew.

Check this mod: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=54963.msg1182035#msg1182035

They have a boozebelly goat with milk that can be brewed/contains alcohol

It is possible, but unfortunately, I lack the know-how of making such things.

you need to make the moss a plant with no seeds or biome, and make it brewable.
then set the shear material as either the plant, or something that can be converted into the plant at a workshop.
I'd advise looking at the sheep raws for help with shearing.

Add a reaction-class token to the moss tissue and make a reaction that uses a reagent with this token.
Or for a more complex solution, add an extract to the creature and make the reaction produce it, then make another reaction to make alcohol out of the extract.

How I did the same thing:

Spoiler: Reaction (click to show/hide)
