Descent Into Madness - Freeform RPG
« on: March 11, 2012, 07:02:52 pm »

The world.  It is white.  Before one can get anywhere, there has to be a where to get to.  This white expanse of nothing is a universe sized blank canvas, waiting for inhabitant minds to fill it.

Here we go.

Before long, splashes of color appear, and the canvas begins to be filled.  Soon, a piece of art will be created.

For setting I suggest a gigantic colony ship that was vaugely cowboy steampunk. Then it ran afoul of The Great Old Ones and shit got Lovecraftian. The top deck quite safe but the deeper into the ship you go the more weird things get. So postapoc steampunk western space Lovecraftian fantasty. Also Thr colony ship is huuuuggggeee. Like a contient huge.

I suggest a world where a giant overgrown kumquat field covers everything. Certain people think they can hear the kumquats talking to them.

PTW (and i voted on the "steampunk Lovecraftian colony ship", simply because i don't have the creativity to come up with something more intriguing and exotic )

Hell if I know.  Pretty humourous suggestion, but utterly useless in the case of roleplaying, if indeed the whole game world was one whole huge ass field of fruit.

It's three to one now, but it's not exactly a super-win if you have only one or two more votes than the kumquat field.

Also, how would we RP or make charcters of any sort in a Kumquat field?

Have human beings. I did mention people. It's not like being in a kumquat field magically makes everyone non-sentient or anything.

I say we join the ideas. It isn't like we can't find a planet with some really weird fruits on it as well as some crazy tentacle fiends.

Very carefully of course!

I'm going to wait 24 hours before moving on, to allow a wider range of people to vote (Ya know, because of timezones)
Anyways, yeah, lovecraftian ship is looking pretty good, though a smaller than continent sized would be good.  Maybe country sized.
I dunno, we'll see, I guess.

The colony ship is immoblie, think of it as a really big Rapture in space with Lovecraft writing it, along with the steampunk and wild west elemnts more strongly imposed. Contry size is fine. The goal for many is to get off the ship, the escape pods are on the lowest deck, you start on the top deck and things get way worse as you progress down, good luck.
