dwarf cancels pickup equipment could not find path

how can I stop this?

No alerts are set by the way.  I recently closed off a part of the caverns.  Could this be caused from equipment in the inaccessible area?  And if so, how do I stop it?

Forbid the item he's trying to get, if ya know it. 
Paint the entire map, forbid on that z-level, if ya don't. 
Disable his hauling. 
Change Orders, to f-Forbid retrivals of stuff.

yeah, this is particularly annoying to stop because as soon as he cancels the job, you can't use the J button to find the item he's looking for anymore.
