   (*) Workshop clutter changed
Will butcheries operate at normal speed at last? It wasn't cool at all when they got cluttered from just one ox.

Yeah, they should be much more reasonable.  The number of stacks is more important than the item size now.

Are the saves compatible, or do i have to generate a new world for the changes to take effect? I guess yes, but i ask anyway.

The saves should be compatible and use most of the changes listed (changes to the raws wouldn't be applied, like the new trainable tags for jabberers and cave dragons).  It gives the old saves knowledge of their domestically trained animals and you can learn the rest (it doesn't try to give general familiarity from historical events in old saves like the monster taming journeys).

err.
so, are there any positive thoughts for owning really nice *socks* as well, to counteract the negative ones?

Could also include baron+ noble thoughts for better dressed peasants annoying them, as with rooms.

Why can't i hold all this joy? Toady, we aren't even 3 months into 2012 and it's already turning out to be an awesome year.

Edit: postin from work, missed two deadlines this monday, and even more academic deadlines pending. But not even getting fired will ruin this glorious day T_T WHY DO YOU TURN ME INTO SUCH AN IRRESPONSIBLE PERSON TOADY? T_T

Ah, so "such and such" historical figure going on a journey and training animals now has a lot more meaning, and this will vary both by worldgen and by the civ you embark as.  If a civ has the knowledge to train some animal, does this mean you can always embark with those animals, provided your civ is also in the correct biome?  Or can you only embark with domestics.  Also, is there any link between giant and regular versions of creatures in the training mechanics?  for example, civ can train eagles, but my fort tries to train some giant eagles.  Do we start from square one or get a bonus?

Thank you, Toady, for fixing the key issues with animal training and clothing.

This makes me very happy, and many people will be rejoycing !!
(I'll celebrate because the programmer I hired just hit a year-late-deadline last night without being fired yet, but I digress).

Guess now's a good time to start showing my thanks by more than just posting  ;)
cooincidence or did i just see a boss catch his employee playing df instead of working/someone catch his boss playing df instead of working?
DWarf fortress; ruining deadlines and getting people fired since 2007
Back on topic, finally i can start my hill dwarf fort focusing on textiles especially cave spider silk.
Much warm regards Toady.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.
