682 FTW. Building destroyer, trap avoid, no stun, no pain, no eat, no sleep, can learn and basically immortal.

Why are most of these things nigh-immortal? It seems like having a fort besieged by one unstoppable monster after another would get..old, y'know?

For dwarves, nothing is nigh-immortal.  Some things just take more killing :P

I can imagine a great way to break parties apart would be to grow some of those special SCP tomatoes.

The SCPs aren't immortal they're just the ones the Foundation hasn't found a way to kill or destroy yet. Obviously you don't hear much about the giant frog demon monster that was vulnerable to a thrown fried pickle. Active SCPs are just SCPs that haven't been solved yet. And most of them are contained incredibly effectively whch counts for something.

No, not at all. We contain, we don't destroy. We study, we don't annihilate. There are many an SCP that are totally destroyable, but we haven't yet. Why? Because we don't need to. We could destroy SCP-093 very easily, but we don't. Why? Because it still needs to be studied.

Awfully short-term for a bump, I know, but version SCP-008 is live.

Do I delete the existing folders in the DF directory?

No, just download a new copy entirely. You'll probably want to.

If you don't want to, then you'll just put the folders in and replace where it says to. No need to delete anything.

You won't have dwarves, though.

Frankly, I have no idea what rules the settings to 914 follow. And I suspect that's exactly how it's meant to be.

914 is partially sentient in many researchers opinion. Certainly it seems to be able to understand the intention of the user even if it does rather liberally interpret. Rough and Coarse break the product down and Fine and Very Fine refine the product. There are basically no rules other than that. Whether what you get is related to the original input in any way is totally random. Basically its incredibly complex and slightly sadistic.

I don't know. Materials can't have interactions applied to them.

I have an idea for the armour. Pop it in on Very Fine, and one of the things you could get is...*drum roll*
The Legendary Pants of Karkat and The Sufferer.

okay, I have a finished SCP-106 (The Old Man).

What biome should it be in?

Also, the next version will be a bit more modular: you could just add the creature_scp_keter file if you want to have 682 and 106 running around.
