Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

One item that I have been gripping about recently is the lack of end game content that is in dwarf fortress.

Another thing I'm really hoping for is an easier way to get crap into the trade depot. I don't want to assign a billion things one at a time to be carried there; I want to shove crap into a minecart and have it dumped into the depot where I can then trade it away at my convenience.

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.

I think there should be clockwork minecarts.  A special tile is put in line with the track, and if hooked to a powered axle, will stop and wind up carts on it if toggled one way, will let them pass (or launch them) if toggled the other way.
