One minor quibble for me: add a progress bar when moving over the art assets. For a second, I thought the app had hung. There was even a beachball.

Glad to see you liked it, so:

I'll include it in the next major release.

Download vanilla (clean) Dwarf Fortress from main page, open the /Applications/MacNewbie/Dwarf Fortress folder and replace df file by one that is in the downloaded DF.

It worked for me (on the retail version of MoLi). I have installed XQuartz 2.7.2 and the hotfix. (I use Lion now, so I took the MacBook nearby to try it)

Try to replace entire the Dwarf Fortress directory or install MacNewbie in another folder, maybe there is something in paths/associations. If error occurs, send me the crash log ::)

the thing is, the vanilla dwarf fortress doesn't work either.
Should I just install XQuartz or should I run it first, before DF?

Just install, it only needs the libraries.

Should GTK2 also be installed?

Found same bug here, and uploaded my crash report:
http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=6011

There is nothing in terminal after launch that can help, can't understand how to debug that and where is the error.

Thank you for your time anyway. :)

Hello there i've been having issues with DFhack, whenever i go to prospect my fortress sights i get a "map not available message" I'm using a 5 year old mac from a family member who did a lot of computer programming so it's fairly robust, i'm aso using snow leopard on it as i recently had it updated.I'm sure it's something very simple and i hope i don't wast your time asking about this but i just wanted to know if someone could help me with it.

Has anyone had difficulties downloading the file? My browser will say it is 79.5MB/79.5MB but never complete the download. This has happened for me another time as well.

I can't seem to download the main file.  I can download the hotfix/patch, but the main file keeps returning a message "Welcome to nginx!".  Is there another host available for the file?  Thanks.

I'm using a 2011 MBP with OSX 10.8.2. I've downloaded/installed the WineBottler package, but when I run DFHack from MacNewbie Wine opens (if it isn't running) and it asks me if I want to create a bottle, or run from the default ~/Wine Files/ directory. Then when I select to run directly, nothing happens. No errors, no windows, nothing.

Is there somewhere else I should be seeking support? I've even tried using MacPorts to compile and install Wine from the command line, but nothing happens when I run DFHack from the command line.
