If it's tough enough to make spears from, surely you can be hung from it. They do grow to be large enough… at least if the noose hangs like 0.5 meters below the top of the cactus.

Consider for a moment the dread of a shield bash with a saguaro shield.

It is said knowledge is like a foul-smelling herb. It must be cooked well and thoroughly with experience to make it palatable. A young scholar's knowledge is therefore not only worthless but disgusting. -- In Dwarf Fortress you have another paradigm. Gather as much of that smelly herb as you can and toss it at your enemy, fracturing his skull through the +capybara man leather cap+.

Dwarfs make beds out of the stuff. So I'd say yes.

All trees (giant cacti, actual trees and giant fungi) are physically all the same right now in the game, except in density and color and appearance, so it doesn't matter.

Sure most times you get hung from a yew (oh wait, there aren't any in DF) or a suitably death-related tree, but when gobbos install themselves in deserts...

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

You die by the hands of an enemy or in their turf, and if they're ok with mutilating corpses, your head gets planted on a spike/swung from a tree.

ah ok. I usually die at the hands of various critters, but nothing sentient.

I seriously wish I could do this in fort mode with the goblins. Or impale the heads in pikes. He also should add those cages with spikes mmm. Still much to add to the game. Just think of the view as you enter the fort.

"Urist mcwoodcutter has resently enjoyed a well hung goblin corpse." Its a bit morbid but its goblins after all.

I think the name of the Witch is far more of a concern than your unfortunate accident involving rope and cactus.

Hehehe. :P

But yeah, it would be kindof awesome to be able to spike goblins around our forts, but while dwarves have 'MAKE_TROPHY_SAPIENT:UNTHINKABLE' (Or whatever the tag is, I haven't delved through the raws for a while), Toady doesn't really have a reason to code it.
It'd be good if invaders took a morale hit from marching over the corpses of their fallen kin, though...

Saguaro "wood" isn't actually that different than tree wood.
