Man, if the centipedes limbs' have [GRASP] tags one should just make all the centipedes necromancers also.
Also make it so that they transform the dead bodies into more centipedes. Muhehe ;)

I like this as it is, it's a nice addition to the giant animals that regularly dismember my woodcutters and haulers, tempted to make a semi-megabeast version though.

Four times the size and spitting acid clouds that make skin rot and bleed profusely perhaps.  :-\

With a head like a block
he went out for a sock,
his ass I won't bother to save.

Check the sizes, especially at age of 2.

I mainly set this up originally to see if I understood how the body detail plan worked.
I do have a megabeast version. let me check.

Is that thing of the same size as a whale?
There's a problem with many legged creatures though: they go forever prone if even one of their legs is damaged.

What? No, here's their anatomy
[BODY:QUADRUPED:2EYES:2EARS:2LUNGS:HEART:GUTS:ORGANS:THROAT:NECK:SPINE:BRAIN:SKULL:MOUTH:TONGUE:GENERIC_TEETH:RIBCAGE]
Also, they're herbivorous while centipedes are predators.
They're more like underground giraffes.
If you're talking about "A huge cave monster with hundreds of feet moving along the bottom of its long body. In place of a head, it has an enormous toothy maw.", they're called voracious cave crawlers.

Cave crawler's mean enough to tear apart armored goblins and dwarves, too! At least they were back in 31.08, I'd imagine they're still a threat to melee soldiers.

I thought they go forever prone if too many of their legs get damaged? I know 4 legged creatures need at least two broken legs to be crippled but then again I haven't done much playing as of late, so you would be right

Can you make a magma (word choice :P) centipede for me? :3
So then I could deul it out in pits of burning hot magma in the object arena

No you're right, I haven't paid much attention to this lately and my first post was based outdated knowledge from previous versions. Toady has been tinkering with many-legged creatures footwear for this release, he may have fixed them as well.

I've commenced arena testing. Giant scorpion falls over only after losing four foots. Though so did giant crab. (It has 8 legs unlike GDS) So there can be some variance.

They both have 8 legs, scorpion uses spider body plan, crab_body have 4 right and 4 left legs. I think it was fixed sometimes in 31.xx so that if half of stance body parts got disabled, it'd fall over.
