So I was given a quest to find a vampire. The compass thingy led me here.

A giant hole. So I figured maybe the hole wasn't too deep right? Perhaps the vampire was a few floors down or something. I don't know I'm new to this. My option was to jump down and hope for the best. The best never came.

What they should add is wall-climbing, and rappel. I have a similar problem with a reptile woman in the sewers, but every path I take ends in some kind of pit. I keep thinking I should be able to slide down a rope, but sadly, can't. It'll keep being there in the Q menu to haunt me, forever.

That hole seems pretty abnormal, though.

Glitches like that are relatively common. Sometimes the terrain generator decides to flip you off and break the world. This is a fairly minor hole.

At least your adventurer landed at his own final destinatio, though

Yeah I think I see what the terrain generator was trying to do. There is a dungeon under the keep in the city that leads right near that area. Seems there is no way to get to it though. Kinda annoying that this is gonna be stuck in my task list

Edit: So apparantly I was missing something. The vampire was actually the king's administrator. I accused him and me and the king had an epic battle with him and killed him

I found a hole like that with an animalperson vampire in it as part of a town's sewer system once.  I think it was a town that had no river, although yours clearly has one right there.  It was only like two z-levels down, so I could jump down and kill her, but there wasn't any way back up.  Good thing I saved just before trying it, heh heh heh.
